The last blood

Chapter 19: down hill

It's been many weeks.
Caleese still hasn't learned to control herself.
So we've had to keep her away from twenty.
Twenty himself has been having problems with his fire abilities.
Me well I'm just trying to deal.
"Caleese." I say.
"Yes." She replies.
"Are you alright?" I ask her.
"I'm fine , I just hate having to be isolated like this concealed from everyone." She says.
"I know , do you wanna try and sit with twenty?" I ask.
"I'm too scared." She says.
"I'll be back." I say.
"Where are you going?" She asks.
"To talk to twenty." I say .
I walk downstairs.
"Twenty hey." I say.
"What is it?" He asks.
"How is everything?" I ask.
"Not good , they're out of control." He says.
"Your powers?" I ask.
"No my arms , yes my powers." He says aggravated.
I know someone who can suppress twenty's powers but twenty will have no memory of having them at all.
I don't say anything.
"The cave , when I went the people they knew how to control it how to take care of it, maybe I should go back to them." He says.
"Didn't they try to Imprison you?" I ask.
"Yes but they can help." Twenty says.
"What about your powers?" He asks.
"I've got them under control." I say.
Caleese walks down stairs I instantly stand in front of twenty.
"It's okay Atlas I won't hurt him , I'm ready." Caleese says.
Twenty leans in for a hug with her.
She doesn't eat him so that's good.
"You're doing good." Twenty says.
"I'm getting there." She says.
I'm just glad I get to have this moment to have them all in one place.
"I love you both." I say.
"Ah Atlas put a ring on my finger." Twenty says laughing.
"Enough." I say.
"I'm just glad everything is going back to normal." Caleese says.
"We tried to stop him!" The guards yell.
"What?" I ask.
I see Saska.
"How did you get here?" I ask him .
"Looks like my attempt to kill Caleese failed." He says.
"But you know what won't fail." He says laughing.
He throws werewolf blood on me. I drop to my knees and scream in agonizing pain.
Then he stakes me in the back.
He vamp speeds over to twenty and slits twenty's wrist.
"Here Caleese come and get him, you know you want to." Saska says holding twenty.
I see Caleese's vampire face come out.
She walks towards them .
"Ugh." Twenty says as he breaks out using his fire powers he burns everything he even hit Caleese and himself.
"Ahhhh" Saska screams in pain he's on fire.
I run over to Caleese and twenty.
"Control yourself Caleese." I say.
But I know she's still focused on the blood.
"Twenty run." I say.
"Caleese no!" I say as she tries to run after him I have to hold her down.
"Calm down! Look at me! Look at me!" I say holding her face.
"I'm here." She says.
"I have to go check on twenty stay here." I tell her as I run after twenty.
He's in the bathroom running cold water on his face.
"Are you okay?" I ask him .
"Look." He says as he shows me all of his burns.
"Go get Roselyn, she can heal you." I say.
"No! Don't you understand this doesn't stop I don't want her to heal me. I did this to myself. I'm a danger. I can't have these powers I can't do this." Twenty says as he cries and slides on to the floor.
I sit down next to him.
"You're right, but twenty I love you and you're stuck with these powers now you'll get better you'll learn you may have hurt yourself but I'm pretty sure you killed Saska so you got rid of our problem." I say.
Twenty laughs.
"Yeah , I guess you're right." He says wiping his tears.
"Take some time, I'm gonna go see Caleese." I say.
I walk back to Caleese and I see she put out the fire and she's eating Saska.
"Caleese! What the fuck." I say.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry." She says as she cries.
"I was so hungry it was burning me." She says crying harder.
I hold her.
"It's okay baby." I say.
"I love you." She says.
"I know." I say.
"Guards take this body away." I say.
"Listen to me Caleese, you're okay." I say.
"Noo I'm not I wanna be human again." She says .
"Please kill me please just kill me, please." She says hitting me while crying into my shirt.
"No." I say comforting her.
"We'll put you on a animal blood diet okay?" I say.
"What's that?" She asks.
"You won't crave human blood if you don't have it." I say.
"Okay." She says.
Twenty walks back down to us.
"Twenty stay back." Caleese says.
"It's okay Caleese, I know you won't hurt me." He says.
"I'm trying." She says.
" I know." Twenty says .
I need some time to go and think. I say as I walk to my room.
I started thinking about everything twenty hurt himself with his own powers.
Caleese can't control herself.
They're both ruined and it's my fault.
If I had just left them alone, none of this would be happening.
As much as I love them both maybe I need to fix this.
I can't breathe without Caleese and I can't go on without knowing twenty's Safe. I have to do what's best.
We all walk outside and just enjoy the view.
Caleese and twenty play hide and seek.
"What are you thinking about?" Roselyn asks me.
"Nothing." I say.
We both laugh.
Twenty caught the entire yard on fire.
"Twenty!" I yell.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to." He says crying.
"It's alright just go inside." I say.
Roselyn puts it out with her magic.
"Those powers are not good for him." Roselyn says.
"I know." I say.
She pats me on the back and then goes to talk to twenty.
"We're all messed up today." Caleese says.
"Yes we are." I say.
I kiss Caleese.
"I'm so sorry." I say.
"Why?" She asks.
"For turning you." I say.
"You didn't turn me." She says.
" I might as well have." I say.
"I don't blame you , and I hope you don't blame yourself I love you Atlas." She says.
I just look at her and smile.
"I hope so." I say grabbing her and hugging Her.
All I can think about is how bad I want to have sex with her right now.
I could use some of her new aggressive ways.
"My room?" I whisper to her.
"Yes." She says.
We go back to my room.
She rips my clothes off .
"Atlas baby I'm gonna take care of you." She says kissing me.
She starts undressing.
Her body's so amazing.
"Come here bitch." I say as I grab her.
She gasps she's shocked I could still be aggressive with her.
"You forget I'm older than you." I say as I pin her down.
"I wanna feel you." I whisper in her ear.
Then we both hear something.
"What was that." We both say.
We get dressed and run downstairs.
"Twenty's being hunted." Roselyn says.
"What?" I ask.
"Someone found out he had fire power and now hunters want him they want to steal his powers." Roselyn says.
"But taking a nature given gift will kill him." I say.
"I don't think they care." Roselyn says handing me a note it says "we know where you are don't run , or hide, we'll take your fire and we'll burn you with it , you will not win dragon." ~ hunters.
"No." I say.
"He's actually being hunted." Caleese says.
"We have to protect him." I say.
"We have to get him out of this realm." Roselyn says.
"You're right." I say.
"But not yet." I say.
I go to talk to twenty.
"I heard no need to explain." He says.
"Okay so you know we have to keep you safe." I say.
"I can take care of myself they come at me I'll flame them." Twenty says.
"I have to stay alive for mah girl you know my future wife." Twenty says laughing.
"This isn't a joke, they could kill you or much worse." I say.
"I know I'm just trying to not be scared." He says looking down.
I lift his head up.
"You're going to be okay." I say.
"Atlas listen." Roselyn says bursting in the room.
"His magic comes from a dragon , dragons only exist here according to this ancient book, when twenty goes back to the mortal world he won't have his powers , he'll only have them here." Roselyn says.
"Then we need to take him back." I say.
"Yes but if we can make it until dark , we can kill these hunters." Roselyn says.
"That's true." I say.
"More will just come." Twenty says.
"What?" Roselyn and I ask.
"For some reason ever since I got my power I can sense when someone's after me , there's only a few now but I felt so many more." He says.
"And you're just telling us this now?" Roselyn says.
"Then it's simple we kill these first few then we take twenty back and we stay for a while long enough for things to cool off." I say.
"That's a good idea I'll let Caleese know the plan." Roselyn says.
"We're gonna be Okay twenty." I say side hugging him.
"I know." He says laughing.
It's been hours ,
Twenty fell asleep but it's time for the hunters to come.
I walk downstairs Caleese and I standing side by side and Roselyn behind us.
They burst in.
"Where is the boy?" They ask.
"Not here." I say.
"Don't lie we know he's here." They say.
"He's not." I say.
"Now." I whisper to Caleese.
She runs towards them and tearing into their necks she was hungry anyways.
I kill the ones coming at me.
Roselyn uses her magic knocking two of them out.
I grab one and start punching him so bad he can't speak.
In that moment I took everything out on him
My hate my fear everything came out I started getting so angry . I used my lightening powers and killed all of the rest of them.
I drop.
"Are you alright?" Caleese asks.
"Yes." I say getting up.
"Take the ones that lived into the dungeon." I say to the guards.
They take them.
"That felt easy." Roselyn says.
"Only because it wasn't all of them." I say.
"At least that will spare us some time before more come." Caleese says.
"There's a spell I could do to make everyone forget about twenty he wouldn't be in danger anymore but we would all forget too." Roselyn says.
"Then don't do it." I say.
Maybe I'm being selfish but I love that kid and I wanna remember him.
"I'll look for some more spells and see what I can do." Roselyn says.
"I'll check on twenty." I say.
I walk upstairs and he's still asleep.
I need to think.
He's the most important thing to me right now at this moment.
I can't have him in danger anymore.
He wakes up.
"What's going on?" He asks.
"I'm just checking on you it'll be time to go back soon so you should stay awake." I say.
"Okay." He says.
He hugs me.
"Thank you for everything you've done for me." He says.
"No no no thank you twenty , you've risked everything just to stay here and be with us." I say.
"And I'd do it again." He says.
I made a promise to keep him safe but I know more hunters are coming, I know he's in danger.
"Okay let's go." Caleese says.
She throws the silver dollar on the ground and we jump in.
"I'm gonna go upstairs and get some rest." Twenty says.
"Me too." Caleese says.
"Alright I'll be up for a while." I say going into the kitchen.
I pour me a glass of wine and just think.
What can I do? I ask myself.
We'll be on the run for the rest of our lives.
I just don't know anymore.
I start writing a note in an old book of mine.

"Dear twenty,
The time I've known you I've realized, I wasn't here to protect you , you were here to protect me. I didn't save you , you saved me.
I promised to keep you safe , and I failed. But in the end you surprised me you were able to save not only me but yourself as well. Everything we've went through has been because of me. Because I chose to stay I chose to keep my promise and stay by you. You have so much of me. Before I met you I was selfish I was mean , I didn't care about anything else I killed, I hurt, and I made others fear me. You opened my eyes , you showed me a new way right from wrong , and love and hope. You showed me strength, weakness, death, and life.
I've hurt you so many times , and I can't forgive myself, but I hope you can forgive me. I think I realized that in our story that maybe this wasn't my story this wasn't for me , but this was your story and this was for you , it was all for you, you kept us happy, you gave us purpose. And I will love you forever I will protect you , and I will never forget you."
That's what I wrote.
And that's how I feel.
