Chapter 8: You killed my mother

"Chit yu gaf Belomi? (What do you want Bellamy?)" Clarke spat.

"To see if you are okay! Lincoln did a little translating for us and I get why you are upset..." he sat down on the edge of the rooftop next to her. She looked at him, surprised by his words "Our people fought each other and a lot were killed. I know you don't like us because we basically intruded into your lands and killed your soldiers. My people thought of you as a threat!" he continued.

"Your people were the threat!" Clarke squished her hands into fists to control her anger.

"I know but your soldier attacked us first! That is why we killed them!" he tried to defend his people.

"You did not kill just soldiers!" Clarke was now standing on her feet.

Bellamy stood up as well "What are you talking about?"

"You killed my mother!" she yelled at him. Bellamy was shocked! Her mother? He had never thought of Clarke's mother.

"Your mother?" he whispered. Clarke looked at him with tears in her eyes. That was the fourth time she had ever cried in her life. The first time was when she found her mother dead. The second was when the other Nightbloods were killed. The third time was at the bonfire, when Titus told the Skaikru about the other Nightbloods. She had cried twice since he got here! She had cried twice in front of him! What was wrong with her? Why did she cry so much? A strong warrior never cries! Specially not in front of other people. That is weak!

Clarke run to the stairs. She climbed down the stairs really fast and then disappeared in her room. Bellamy was still standing there. On the rooftop. Looking down at Polis. He knew that his people had done some very bad things but he didn't know a lot. He only knew that when they first got down on the ground, Grounders attacked their camp.

One of his teachers named Pike, started a rival against Chancellor Jaha and gathered people to fight the Grounders. While Jaha wanted peace, Pike wanted to take more land around the camp. He attacked a few villages and killed a lot of Grounders, but Bellamy always thought Pike killed only warriors. He didn't know he was killing innocent women and children. He was only 10 years old when that happened. Clarke must have been 7 years old! That is too young to lose your mother. Bellamy still had his mother. When the Ark came down and the Chancellor found out about Octavia, he decided to pardon them all. He wanted to start over on the ground. To do better!

"Seda! Seda! (Teacher! Teacher!)" Bellamy shouted as he saw Titus coming out of the throne room. He had been looking for him!

"Bellamy! What can I do for you?" Titus asked him.

"I um- I wanted to ask you about Clarke's mother." he responded.

"Why?" Titus looked at him with a straight face.

"Well, because Clarke said that Skaikru killed her mother! Is that true?"

Titus breathed heavily "Yes! When you landed, your people attacked some of our villages! One of those villages was Clarke's and Lincoln's village. Clarke was here in Polis, she came when she was just five. She visited her mother occasionally. When Skaikru attacked the village, they did not only kill the warriors but also women, children, elderly... Clarke's mother was a healer! When Lexa went to see the villages and what Skaikru had down, she took Clarke with her as her second! Clarke was the one to find her mother with a bullet through her heart. She was only seven! That is when she swore to only speak Trigedasleng. She only speaks English when she really, truly has to and I cannot say that I don't like that. She is Trikru and it is good to speak Trig! Skaikru killed her mother! That is why Clarke hates Skaikru. But do not worry! When she ascends, she will honor the coalition and the alliance! She will not betray Lexa's agreement!"

"I'm worried about the coalition! I'm worried about Clarke!" Bellamy responded.

"Don't be! Clarke is a warrior! It is actually good that she now has no one to love. She does love me and Heda but she is not very attached. Love is a Weakness, the Commanders' can't have!" Titus told him.

"Love is not a weakness! Love is strength!" Bellamy shouted angrily.

"Ha!" Titus laughed "Skaikru say that because they are cowards! Love is not strength! It allows you to get manipulated and controlled. One threat to your loved ones and you will become a puppet to anyone's hands!"

"Love is power! You do the most incredible things for love! And besides, what does worth fighting for if not for love!"
