"There's only like seven people coming right?" "Golden, Aviva, Sammy, Harvey, Jeremy and some of my work friends " I was surprised, he never wanted me to meet any of them so why the change of heart? "We're married now and I don't want to keep secrets, so my friends are your friends" I nodded and Damiar smiled glancing over to the door "That should be them now" He took me by the hand as we walked to the front door. "Heya!" Aviva smiled as she wrapped me in a tight squeeze "Oh my god I haven't seen you in ages" I said sarcastically and Aviva laughed. "Come on in" Damiar said stepping out of the way. As soon as Aviva and Golden came in a flood of the other five came through. In the midst of them all a now blue haired Sammy "What happened to you?" I laughed wrapping her in a hug "I got bored" she laughed and I shrugged. I glanced over to my left where Damiar was talking to some of the guys. His work friends I assume. It was strange that he invited them here since he was always so secretive about his life away from me, so why the change of heart? I looked over to Sammy who was looking as puzzled as me "Who are they?" She asked and I shrugged "Damiar's work friends I think?" I said unsurely "What does he do again?" She asked "Oh I don't know business money stuff?" I chuckled nervously, to be honest I didn't really know what he did to make all this money. He told me one time he was in Philly to check his operation aka a crack house. Was it drugs? Or was there something else something even more sinister behind it? Damiar waved me over and I left Sammy to chat with Aviva. "Hey baby" He said kissing me in the cheek "Hey" I said smiling at him, Jesus this must look so cheesy. I turned back around to the men "Hi I'm Cora" They all nodded in acknowledgement, okay so you're not going to introduce yourselves? I recognised Jeremy but Harvey was nowhere to be seen "Where's Harvey?" I asked turning to Damiar "He had an appointment" Damiar said and I nodded "Why don't we all sit down there's food and champagne" We all walked over to the long table taking a seat. I sat between Damiar and Sammy. Damiar started pouring me a glass of champagne and I shook my head, "This is your favourite one? Why not?" He asked and I shrugged, because there is a little baby growing in my tummy "I'm still traumatised from the other night" I said with a nervous laugh and Aviva and golden joined in. "Cora's always been such a lightweight" Sammy laughed and I shrugged.
After about an hour of small talk I finally started to get to know his friends. Apart from Jeremy there were three other guys Kai, Cap and Eric. They were all actually really nice one they got comfortable. I stood up from the stable everyone looking up at me, for once I'm the tallest in the room heheh.. "I have an announcement" I said and Damiar and the rest looked confused "What?" Damiar asked, you clueless son of a bitch we did it with no protection like three times in a row. "I'm pregnant" I said looking down at the wide eyed Damiar. Immediately a big smile came over his face and he stood up swinging me around "Holy fucking shit!" He exclaimed and I smiled at him "I'm gonna be a dad motherfuckers!" He yelled out and everyone cheered "Oh my fucking god Cora holy shit!" Sammy said getting up "Like an actual little humans in there?" She asked looking at my stomach and I nodded "No shit!" Aviva squealed and hugged me "Congratulations guys" Golden smiled. Damiar's friends congratulated him with a silent nod, how official. "How long have you known?" Damiar asked "Literally a day" I smiled "But I'm not sure how far along I actually am" Damiar crouched down meeting at eye level with my stomach, he kissed the exposed skin from where my jeans cut off and my cropped shirt began. "I'm your dad" He whispered, I laughed "Damiar it's like three micro cells at this point" He stood up and shrugged, I glanced around to see Aviva and Sammy happy dancing "We're gonna be aunties we're gonna be aunties" They both sang jamming around "I'm gonna be a fucking uncle dude like uncle golden in the house!" Golden called out "We are going to spoil this kid fucking rotten" Aviva laughed and Golden nodded "Try to out spoil Damiar I dare you" Kai laughed, Jesus I can see it now. A fendi stroller and a crystal mobile. Damiar raised his hands up in defence "I can't help it!"
The guests had left and it was late. White stars speckled across the black sky. We laid on the day bed snuggling. "We should go get one of those baby x rays tommorow" He said and I shook my head "You've got to wait until you're like two months pregnant. It's not an actual baby now it's like the size of a bean" I said pinching my fingers together to show him, he shrugged "Well it's our bean" "It's our bean" I said kissing him in the cheek "Can we go buy some baby books in the city tommorow or something?" I asked and he nodded "Yeah sure and we can go looking for baby furniture and stuff" "Damiar we have nine months to do all that" He shrugged "I wanna be prepared for when this little guy pops out" "Pops out?" I laughed "What makes you think it's gonna be a guy?" "It's a family thing, the first born is always a son when it's a Krogh I don't know we're like jinxed or something" "50/50 chance lover boy" I said to him "Can you still eat sushi? Because of the raw fish?" I shook my head "I'm gonna miss sushi" I said looking down at my stomach. "Don't worry, I'll do it with you" He said with a smile "Even no alcohol?" "Whiskey can wait when there's a baby on the way" He said looking down at my stomach and then bit his lip "Maybe we shouldn't tell my dad" He refused to meet eyes with me "It's safer that way" "What do you mean Damiar?" He stayed silent "Damiar what are you talking about?" "My dad isn't as nice as me. Cora I have feelings and emotions and values they keep my in tact so I don't... snap. You keep me sane Cora. My dad doesn't have anything, he raised me to be a ruthless merciless leader. Thank god I didn't turn out like that but seriously, I don't want him getting into that with our kid" I nodded "I get it, but your dad seemed like a nice guy Dami" Damiar shook his head "Trust me Cora I don't want to see him for a long time" Damiar looked out onto the water where the ocean waves crashed against the shore. "What could he do that so bad you don't want him knowing you're having a baby?" "When your dad kills your mom and brother and you can't do anything about it, you tend to not want him near your kid" he said inhaling sharply. I bit my lip as Damiar turned teary "I'm sorry I didn't mean to-" "It's fine Cora, it's fine" He only called me Cora when something was up. If it was in fact 'fine' he would've said 'It's fine baby it's fine". But now I'm scared, not just for myself but for the baby.
