figure 8 country club

"WHY'D THEY GIVE YOU THE PAST FEW DAYS OFF?" Kie questioned, following me into the country club. I just shrugged, "No clue, but i'm not complaining."

I quickly clocked in and walked over to the bar area, Kie taking a seat on one of the stools. Sometimes she'd come just to hang out since she was a member here. "How's the plan going?" I couldn't help but laugh, "Good? I guess. It feels so awkward."

"But the tension!" Kie squealed, "Literally watching the two of you yesterday... wow. The look in his eyes, girl it's lustful." She winked at me and I scoffed, shoving her arm slightly. I hated that she was making me do this. The whole plan was for me to basically tease JJ and I felt so dirty. "Here's your shirley temple, now shush."

She sipped on the drink as I waited on all of the random Kooks that came to me for a drink. Every few minutes i'd refill her drink as she continued to read the book she'd brought with her. Apparently the boys were all doing their own thing today and she had the day off from the Wreck, so she decided to just chill at the country club all day.

"Lennon, can we talk?" my eye flickered up to see none other than Rafe Cameron leaned on the counter in front of me. How'd I not see him walk up?

Kie looked up and we exchanged glances. I really didn't want to talk to him. He was probably just going to flip and choke me again. The bruises were just now starting to fade.

I gestured to my work uniform, "I'm kind of on the clock right now, Rafe. I can't really step away." He leaned in closer to me, only causing me to take a step back. "Can't Kie cover for you?" The girl slammed her book shut and shook her head, "I don't even work here, I could get her fired."

"She's right, Rafe. I'm here to make you Kooks drinks and send you on your way, not to have stupid little conversations whenever i'm beckoned." I could tell I made him mad when his eyes went from the light blue they normally are to a deep blue. I couldn't help but take another step back, my body hitting the prep counter behind me.

His hands slammed down on the countertop. Kie and I jumped and the 3 old men in the corner turned to stare at us. "I don't even know why I tried to be nice to you, you little slut. I hope you die." I couldn't believe his words.

I watched in shock as the 19 year old stormed out of the bar area. Kie too sat there in disbelief. I took a few deep breaths and stared down at the ground, not wanting Kie to see the tear that slipped from my eye.

"Len..." I shook my head at my friend, "Don't. Not now." My eyes flickered back up and I saw a piece of paper sitting on the counter where Rafe had been standing. I quickly grabbed in and shoved it in my back pocket.

Without another thought, I put up the "will be back in 15 minutes" sign that I used during breaks. "If Trenton asks, i'm taking my break." I mumbled to Kie as I walked off. My feet carried me to a secluded part of the club where I always spent my breaks.
