Ciana's pov

"So, is that boyfriend of yours going to bring you another boxed lunch today?" Mia sneered, with a smug smile.

"B-boyfriend?! Its nothing like that!" I said, caught off guard by her comment.

"Don't lie, the entire school already knows how much you respect (y/n). You practically talk to him more, than that supposed fiancée of yours." Mia pointed out. "Plus, not anyone can get your hard-to-please father to find respect in. So I mean, you literally have everything laid out before you," she said.

"I doubt (y/n) sees me in that way," I said sheepishly. It felt uncomfortable talking about this since I never saw (y/n) as a potential love interest.

"Oh really? He cares enough about you to make you boxed lunches almost every day." Mia said.

"Yes, but he already does that for Damon as well and from what I can tell, the two of them have history. Honestly, I wouldn't doubt it if they were a couple, the two of them balance each other out so well." I smiled. I didn't feel bitter or really anything, sure (y/n) was a good looking, talented person. But he and Damon are a much better match. "Ah, speaking of which, I should get going. My father is planning on meeting (y/n) soon." I said, which Mia apparently took in a different direction. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything. Leaving her room, I walked towards my father's classroom, which was big, empty, and extremely dark for no apparent reason.

"Ah, Ciana, you're here." He said, welcoming me in, his desk was littered with stacks of paper. Of which were from his class, which I was believed were the B ranks. Honestly, I feel bad for anyone who has my father as their teacher.

Even if they were E or D ranks, he wouldn't be lenient, god, no wonder why (y/n) caught his attention. "So what brings you here, so early in the morning?" He inquired.

"Ah, I wanted to see if I could create some candles," I said.

"Although I will allow you to use the space here, are you sure it'll work this time? You've tried over a thousand combinations, even ancient arts, but haven't succeeded at all." My father said.

"Yes, however, (y/n) has taught me something that I lacked. Normally he would come by around this time to give me a boxed lunch, that will provide my body the oils it needs to stabilize and also can allow me to use it in Alchemy." I said. When I mentioned (y/n)'s name, my father's eyes lit up.

"Ah, then you should better start early then and if you could, please bring (y/n) along. I would like to test his affinity for Alchemy. I've heard much from Professor Lir that (y/n) is extremely good at potions, I better find out myself, before he tries taking up all of (y/n)'s time." My father muttered.

"Ah, father?" I asked, seeing a dark aura cast around him.

"Oh, don't mind me. Say, where does (y/n) meet you?" He asked, the dark aura instantly disappearing. I knew that father and Professor Lir were rivals, but I didn't think it was to this extent.

"Normally at the cafeteria or on my way to class, although he probably knows where your classroom is-" Suddenly a wave of magic washed over the room, a summoning circle appeared with a glowing white orb. From it (y/n) appeared, with two boxed lunches in his arms.

"Teleportation magic, huh, quite interesting." my father muttered. Teleportation magic was a basic C rank spell, although I never saw (y/n) use it. Although, I don't doubt it that he couldn't use it.

"My apologies for intruding, I was caught in some matters regarding Ismene and Damon." (y/n) said, behind him, his familiar, Hanami appeared, with their wooden stick. They were so cute!

"Ah, perfect timing, Ciana was just about to start on creating candles through Alchemy. You do know how the fundamentals of alchemy works, correct?" My father asked he had black hair that honestly, with the darkness of the room, didn't make him stand out any less. He probably recognized that it was dark, for once, and turned on the lights. The room grew brighter, and with the curtains drawn, it was enough to see the faint detailing in the walls. Why my father or even the school allowed the room to be so dark is beyond me.

"Yes, Alchemy is a step higher of Calculations and takes parts or skills used in Potions. Although I do believe Professor Lir telling me something, about how one is inferior to the other. Alchemy in it's most simplistic form is Potions, but through mana and imagination, and creates solid objects." (y/n) summarized, although the wording was slightly weird. It made sense. "Say, Ciana, what were you trying to create?" He asked.

"Candles. My daughter has been trying desperately to create objects with oils in them, it's been one of her greatest roadblocks in progressing in Alchemy. If I might ask, how did you figure out that your body needed oils inside, in order to create objects with oils in them?" My father asked.

"Is it something special about that information, father?" I asked. It seemed so normal, almost like common sense when (y/n) explained to me.

"Yes, it's something that most Alchemists overlooked when wanting to make progress in things that require oils. Although, because it's overlooked, it's rarely mentioned in text, so I do wonder how you were able to find this fact out." He said.

"Ah, about that. I had been reading some text about Alchemy from Damon's library when I was younger. Books were rather rare for me in the past, let's just say. I came across the formulas for candle making, it seemed easy, but I noticed that while Damon's parents could easily accomplish it. Those that ate a less rich diet, had more difficulty doing so. Since I was of the latter, I had trouble creating candles. I then realized that you needed oils to stabilize your body since most oils come from meats, which also include unwanted fats and byproducts that can clog someone.

Essentially, it was just trial and error until I was able to complete it. Since Ciana's body is still getting adjusted to the number of oils it's being supplied with, she should be able to produce two or three small candles." (y/n) explained, hearing that I felt excited to start working. However, he had stopped me and gave both me and my father the boxed lunches he was holding. "Ismene had told me to bring lunch to the both of you since you both are workaholics." He said, which made me embarrassed to admit. But my father seemed happy to have gotten something. Although, he was probably more happy that (y/n) was here, so that he can test (y/n)'s abilities.

Scary.
