(Y/N) POV flashback

"Just do it!" My father yells at an engineer

"He won't be able to withstand it, James!" The engineer argues back

"Laura I don't care! We need this technology!" My father continues to nag

"Do we James! Do we really! Is it worth putting our son at risk!" She fights back

"Yes, for the protection of Atlas I'll do anything!" He yells back with a head full of steam

She looks at him as she runs her finger through her long (H/C) hair.

"If you're putting him inside that aircraft, I want no part of it," she says depressed

"Then get out!" He yells at her. Her eyes go wide and then looks at me

"I'm sorry," she says under her breath as she walks out of the room

"Listen here son, your gonna hop in that plane and your gonna fly it as fast as possible," My father says as he picks me up and brings me to the cockpit of the new plane Atlas made. He strapped me in and I could barely reach the foot pedals.

"Dad, I can't reach them well," I say complaining

"Shut up you little brat, this is once in a lifetime opportunity," he says as he walks out the plane.

I start to remember the protocols for starting the plane and as I finish them, the engines behind me roar to life.

I see the hanger door open and I'm clear for takeoff. I push the throttle lever up until I'm airborne. The science team tells me to let the engines warm up before I go full speed.

"Ok they should be ready," The intercoms says

I look at the lever and remember something Laura, my mother, once said, "remember this (Y/N), you should never go full throttle until you unlock your semblance and an aura to protect you,"

I discard what she said and push the lever all the way forward and I'm pushed into my seat. The aircraft instantly launches forward and builds up speed

"Good job, keep it steady," the intercom says

I watch as my speed increases

I can hear in the background the scientists discussing something," it's going faster than predicted," I hear one of them say

As I hear it, the cockpit start beeping and turns red, the whole aircraft starts shaking badly

"What's happening!" The intercom says

"I don't know!" I yell back

"Fix it now!" I can hear father yell over the intercoms

"I can't! I don't know what's wrong!" I say looking at the instruments

"Fix it (Y/N) or you'll go another night without food," he threatens. I'm reminded of my growling stomach as he says this.

I start panicking as I look around the cockpit, as I do I notice I'm heading towards a mountain. I tried to use the controls to divert my path....but nothing worked

I start panicking even more.......then I heard a voice. It was a soft and kind one.....it reminded me of my mother.

I stopped panicking and closed my eyes...I could feel it....one of the wings had a puncture...a giant hole that was causing the plane to be unstable. I could feel it.....and I could feel how to fix it too.

I open my eyes and start flipping switches off of instinct. The aircraft stabilized and I just managed to pull up as the mountains flew by.

It was silent other than the engine roaring behind me. I started doing maneuvers and headed back to base. When I landed, I was greeted by many people who were shocked. Suddenly a burst of sound came back into my ears and I was left shocked and gazed
