(Y/N) POV

We huddled under the tree freezing. It probably wouldn't be near as bad if we had brought our equipment....but we didn't

Grimm are sure to come. I'm sure we are radiating negative emotions as we freeze. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Summer doesn't have her weapon with her, and I didn't bother grabbing any of mine.

We should hope Ozpin's help arrives soon, because if Grimm finds us. We will need to run, which will only attract more Grimm

"You must be thinking what I'm thinking," Summer says as she shivers

"Grimm?" I ask doing the same

"Yea, they are bound to come," Summer says quietly

"Hmm," I say to acknowledge I think the same

Summer buries her head in my chest to stay as warm as possible. Honestly, it's working as I feel my face heat up.

We stayed like this for 30 minutes until we had to move....we felt the Grimm incoming

"Come on, we need to leave," I say as I stand, Summer hung on trying to cling to me before she let go and we started running.

We headed toward Beacon, best we could anyway. Without a compass, I had to use my mental one.

We sprinted as we could sense Grimm following us...and they were catching too.

It didn't take long until the first Grim caught us, a Beowulf. A terribly ugly creature

Summer took a fight stance as did I. I've only been taught very basic fighting techniques by Atlas. And I wasn't at Beacon for long enough to receive any useful training. My job was to pilot the Eagle, not go hand to hand combat with Grimm

Summer attacked first at blinding speed, leaving a trail of white rose petals. She makes it clear she will be doing most of the fighting. I'm just here to slow her down. She launches herself at the Grimm and lands a very solid kick to the Grimms head.

I do the same, but it had much less of an impact. Summer tries to attack again, but I'm in the way

"Get out of the way!" She yells frustrated," it's not like your gonna hurt the Grimm anyways," She insults me in her rage. She doesn't mean it I'm sure, she is just under intense stress. If we don't kill the Grimm fast, we will be outnumbered in minutes.

I duck down and run to find if I can spot anything useful. I spot a giant tree, we might be able to climb it...maybe

But the Beowulf might be able to climb....can they climb? I forget, I forget! I start panicking until I hear a yelp.

I look in Summer's directions to see she has been struck by the Grimm. My mind is decided, we will climb the tree and hope for the best. It will give us either extra time, or safety

I rush to Summer and pick her up before the Beowulf can get to her.

"Can you climb a tree?" I ask as we run to the tree. Or at least I ran, Summer was limping. She must have hurt her leg

"I might be able too," She says as we reach the tree. I give her a boost as she starts to climb the tree. I make sure she gets a decent amount up before I start, the Grimm nearly gets me as I get out of its reach. I sweat a little bit before I carry on climbing. It doesn't take long for me to catch up to Summer. We climb until we find a ledge we can rest on

"That was close," She mutters thinking of just what happened

"Yea, too close," I agree

There's silence until Summer speaks again

"Sorry for what I said back there, I let the situation get the best of me," She says ashamed

"Don't worry, it's was completely true, I'm useless in situations like this," I admit

"You not useless, you found this tree did you not?" She asks

"Yea, but even then I couldn't make a choice to if we should climb it," I tell her

"It gives us some time to rest at least...even if it's still cold," She says loosing up

"Yea," I say as mechanical noises fill the air. The Grimm then whimpers as it fades away

"You guys here?" A man asks. Based on his voice, he must be Qrow

"Yea, we are up here!" I call to him

"What are you doing up there!" Qrow yells to us

"Hiding!" Summer says cheerfully

"Ha, come down here!" Qrows says

"How do I know your not better then the Grim," I joke around

There's silence

"I guess you won't know until you come down here!" He says

"Hmm k," I say as I start my way down. I can see Summer struggling so I decide I can give her a hand

We slowly descend toward the ground. Once we are on flat ground, Qrow greets us

"What are you doing all the way out here?" He asks

"A Grim cut the Eagle in two with no warning," I declare, just thinking of it makes me mad

"Really?" Qrow asks

"Yea, can we just get to Beacon," Summer pleads as she shivers

"Yea, of course, our Bullhead isn't that far away," He says as she starts leading us toward a direction

As we walk back, I help Summer walk next to me instead of Qrow, she must have something on her mind

"Out with it," I say knowing she wants to say something. She gets startled but finds her wits to speak

"Listen (Y/N), when I was talking at that Cafe about Tai," She begins

"It was a lie," she says. I give her a confused look as she continues

"The truth...I actually...I actually like you," She says, even in the dark, I can see her face light up red.

And mine probably does do

"Uhh," I say shocked

"You don't need to return my feelings but I just feel bad for lying to you," She says

"No Summer it's fine, I actually think I like you too," I confess. Silence follows after I declare that

"Soooo?" She asks

"?" I make a confused sound

"Does that mean we can date!" she boldly asks me excited

"I guess," I say quietly as she latches on my arm. I can feel the joy coming off her.

Honestly one of the warmest things I've felt all night.
