Adolpha grumbled incoherently to herself as she hopped through the library to the exit, pulling her shoe on as she did so. She was on her way to visit the Kings- much to her displeasure. They had intended on doing it the previous day but in the wolf pack reunion and catch up, they had gotten distracted. Opening the door, she barrelled straight out, not having expected to go slamming into a freezing cold wall.

"Ow, Jesus!" she hissed as she flew backwards like the aftershock of a bumper cart though a chuckle and cold hands were there to welcome her and her body did not meet the floor as she expected.

"Not quite" the voice hummed and she peeled her eyes open gently, blinking multiple times for a moment before jumping away from the person who had caught her. Caius smiled down at her in an expression that was slightly unnerving to see after the many smirks he usually wore on his face.

"Caius" she acknowledged, straightening her jumper and his eyes swept over in a vaguely scanning gesture that left her feeling exposed despite how fully clothed she was. He looked understandably handsome as he blinked down at her, white-blond hair pristine and crisp suit unblemished.

"Can we talk?" his voice was very serious and she frowned, eyes sweeping over him to find a file gripped in his hands, a file that would appear on the outside as very similar to the one that she herself held. It was at that moment that he also noticed this and his eyebrow rose. Sighing in resignation, she nodded.

"I suppose I can ask you what I was going to ask Aro." she mused and Caius' had a look of much displeasure on his face as he followed her back within his own quarters. It was refreshing, being in his rooms again after all that time.

"Ah, I am glad to see your dog brothers haven't trashed the place" he clapped and she knew that his usual snarky persona was not in fact gone, despite the seriousness that had washed over him recently.

"Oh look!" Adolpha sparked sarcastically. "An Asshole! Seems he didn't go very far away after all." she hummed and Caius scoffed as they took a seat opposite one another at the small coffeetable.

"Stop being cute." he rolled his eyes.

"Can't." she shrugged with an innocent grin. "It's not possible."

"Right" Caius clapped. "Who's going first?"

"You, seeing as though you came all this way." she teased with a smile. She wasn't sure why it was so easy to lapse back into the way they were before, but the second he was standing there with a smile on his face directed at her- she felt completely better all over again; As if she hadn't wasted a whole day crying over him not too long ago.

"My brothers believe it is best that I tell you this before you find out from someone else. They say that you have gotten close with Heidi recently and she certainly likes to gossip" he frowned and Adolpha rose a curious brow.

"What is it?" her voice was serious now, following the pattern that he had taken and he slowly slid the documents he had brought along the table to her.

"I don't want you to worry. This is just something that needed to happen and I am glad that it has" he nodded and she frowned in deeper concern as she scanned the divorce papers with a clear gaze. "Our wedding got renewed automatically every so often, there are people who deal with all that sort of thing but... A divorce seemed in order... Lord knows we both have enough grounds for one"

"You... Aren't with her anymore? But... I thought..." she trailed off with a frown and his blank expression continued to shine. "I thought you weren't ready to leave her yet?"

"I didn't think that I was but then... I did what I did to you, and I realised that...I was ready, I am ready to be without her. I was just too afraid to do what must be done. But it's over now and I don't want that to pressure you in any way. I just wanted you to know that you and I are on the same page now. If you are still willing, now that I can admirably court you..." he trailed off. "I would like to try" she couldn't help the smile that tugged along her cheeks when he said that and her eyes trailed down to her hands. The second he saw that smile, knowing he was the reason behind it, he smiled too.

"I should really give you a hard time over this. You've been an ass" she laughed and he mused, making a 'that's true' gesture and she shook her head with a small smile. "But, like I said before... It's never been much of a choice for me when it comes to you."

"Is that a yes?"

"What exactly am I signing up for? I've been told to read the terms and conditions before agreeing to things?" she teased and he glared mockingly in return.

"I am sure we will just have to wait and see. No agreements, no promises. No anything. Just... Trying and seeing" he offered and she hummed.

"That sounds rather good to me" she nodded with a smile and Caius knew that his was probably very similar to hers.

"It's your turn" he nodded to the paper in her hands and she looked down at it. In light of what had just happened, she knew that she should tell him everything but in truth- she didn't fully trust the Volturi not to hurt the other packs. Of course, she trusted them with her life but not with the other wolves. And she had made a promise to Conri, therefore- she said only what they had pre-rehearsed.
