iii. november storm

26 9 2

a misting of raindrops

speckles tear streaked cheeks

as fog enshrouds seastrands

and mournful shorelines

my mind crystalized

in a bone cage of salt

a grasp of a hand

calloused but delicate

warm brown eyes

staring into mine

tinged with sorrow

but flickering like fireflies

as the rain pours down

both of us dripping wet

let the rain pour over you

the stranger said

and carry your sins

to the turquoise seas

like mountain silt

from glacial brooks

meandering through prairies

before embracing the sea

so i open up my heart

and salt stained mind

letting the grand rivers

criss crossing the skies

wash over me

melting the bitter salt

encrusting my broken mind

rivulets of salt water

carrying heartbroken memories

towards the stormy sea

and i smile

the first time since

i've arrived back here

these lands bordering seas

holding the hands

of a open-hearted stranger

smiling back at me

possibility all around me

a school of glimmering anchovies

as he and i stand here

under overcast skies

bathed in a november storm
