stuck in my home

just want to get out

a magic floating in the wind

dawn filling my lungs

a golden urge flowing

through my fingertips

my mind bathing in

bursting maple firecrackers

i grab a suitcase

a swirl of reds and blues

tangled cotton and denim

thrown together hastily

an irresistible emotion

blossoms over my heart

in a flurry of amber

where are you going

he asks eyebrows raised

i don't know just somewhere

i reply with a twirl of my bags

my fingers tapping with

the feeling of spring

tangled near my ear

whispering adventures to me

we're snuggling in the car

engine rumbling like the flutter

of viridian hummingbird wings

as i roll down the windows

my hair pirouetting on

gentle western valley gales

steering wheel in my hands

undiscovered vistas waiting ahead

his warmth beside me

rosy memories to be retold

a thousand miles to burn

i reach my hand to grab

the singing dawn horizon

not running from hurt anymore
