Serendipity POV

“What happened?” I whisper to Loki, barely moving my mouth.

“We went in, it was there, we brought it out, end of story,” He says, frustrated. I pick at the edge of the bandage wrapped around my thigh. He swats my hand away, and I can’t keep a small smile away.

I shift on the cold floor of the jet to rest my head on Loki’s shoulder. He takes my hand, and I try to ignore the burning in my leg. Bruce said it would be best if I sat on the floor, so that there might be less blood loss; when we called him afterwards. Of course, Loki being Loki, he insisted on sitting with me, so here we are, on a cold metal floor as my blood soaks through the third bandage. I think I’m not healing yet because there’s a foreign object still in my leg, and I’m not in the water.

Since we left, Loki’s seemed a little off. He keeps zoning out, and it’s probably just because of the shock, but he keeps staring at the staff. It’s wrapped in a canvas and resting on the floor across from us. If it weren’t for the blue glowing you’d never know what was in there.

“Landing in five,” Clint announces, his voice reverberating throughout the ship. I’m probably in for the lecture of my life from Fury. ‘How could you get shot, you idiot?!’ I can imagine him yelling at me. I kinda feel bad for Loki, because Fury still acts as if Loki is responsible for all of my actions, so he’s probably going to get yelled at too.

I feel my stomach quiver as we start to descend, and I lift my leg off the ground in preparation of our landing; which will most likely be bumpy. Let’s just say Clint is much better at flying than landing…

As I lift my leg off the ground, i notice a small puddle beneath my bandage.

“Hey Loki,” I say, my voice void of emotion. “My leg is dripping.” He nods, seeing the puddle as well.

“That it is, little witch.” He says, sounding almost bored. As we land, I am very grateful that i lifted up my leg, as my uninjured one hurts from the landing. The bay opens to reveal the top deck of the Helicarrier, everyone carrying on as usual. Not gonna lie, I honestly thought that there might be some grand welcome awaiting us, but guess not.

I grunt as I pull myself up off the ground using a crate to steady myself. I start to hobble out onto deck, but Loki wraps an arm around my legs and scoops me up. I glare at him.

“I’m perfectly capable of walking,”

“No, you aren’t,” He says, sounding almost bored. As we walk in to the medbay to get the bullet out, lots of agents stare at me, being carried by the god of mischief. I flip off a couple younger ones who look blatantly disgusted, and they turn red before going back to work.

Loki dumps me on a table, not even looking very tired.

“Who do we have here- oh! You again!” Jacky yells at me. I laugh.

“This time it wasn’t my fault!” I argue, gesturing to my leg. She grabs a bucket of things and a pair of blue gloves before coming to set up shop on my leg.

“You just want me to take it out or should I get you hooked up with the works?” She asks me, already peeling off the bandage to inspect my leg.

“Just get it out, and then I’ll head home,” I tell her. Jacky looks past me at Loki, expectantly. I twist to look behind me, and see him hesitantly nod. As if a switch was flicked, Jacky gets to work.

She just had Loki approve my care! Why is she asking him? It’s my leg, not Loki’s. Next time Loki gets shot or stabbed or anything I’m gonna make Jacky ask me before she-
