Chapter 8

I saw Tomaki so I walked over sadly. He's the only person willing to talk to me and he doesn't even know me?! He calls me Lily??
"Hey." I say sitting down near him.
"Hey Lily" he says smiling to himself.
"We both know that's not my name"
"Yeah...I know. Your real name is Naomi Ackerman"
"Wait. You know my actual name?"
"Yeah. I'm not an idiot you know."
"Well then why do you call me Lily?!"
"I call everyone by the nicknames I made up."
"How is Lily a nickname for me?"
"I think of you as a flower...the Lily."
"Why?" I asked, shocked by his reply.
"Before the Lily has blossomed into the beautiful flower we know it is, it's quite an ugly looking flower and nobody really pays attention. When it opens up, everybody loves it."
"Wait. Are you calling me ugly?"
"Not physically, no. Emotionally, yes. Unless you open up...then your quite likeable."
I nod and smile. "That's actually a really cool nickname." I took a moment to think. "Wait? Why do you call seiko fly?"
"They piss me off."
I burst out into a riff of laughter joined by Tomaki. When we calmed down I looked at him and smiled. "Sorry if I've been a bitch to you...."
"I wouldn't say you've been a bitch.. You're just not very nice"
"Well....I'm sorry I haven't been nice to you"
"I haven't exactly been the nicest to you either so it's fine....."

Eren's POV
"You can rot in those fucking handcuffs for all I care" she shouted as she threw my gear on the floor and stormed off.
"Naomi I didn't mean it" I housed but she never came back. I said it out of anger. I didn't mean it I was just worried. She's nearly die so many times now and I just don't think she Gould be as irresponsible towards titans anymore.

I didn't get let out of the handcuffs or the medical ward until the next day, so when I was let out I went to check in captain Levi but he was gone so I walked back to where everyone would be staying.
I got to the canteen and sat with Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Sasha and Connie.
"Where's Naomi" I asked sitting next to Mikasa.
"You haven't heard?" She said sadly.
"Haven't heard what?"
"She moved back to the military police. Said she had a skill for killing titans but for killing herself too. Seems to blame herself for what happened to Levi but he's fine now an he's with the king and the commander right now."
"She's gone?" I said sitting down sadly.
"Yeah. I'm sorry. I know you liked her" Mikasa said, rubbing my back.
"She was a really great person. An I'm not with the commander...I was but I'm not now. I didn't ask her to leave she said she was a burden and left on her own grounds, not mine. You are scouts, you need to be use to losing those you hold dear. She was reckless, something you lot learned not to be during your extensive scout training. She had military police training that is why she isn't as skilled mentally as all of you. Eventually, your paths will cross over in the coming years, months or weeks due to the work needed from the military police to evacuate people safely and help patch up the wall. She was a good addition to your cul de sac and she will be missed but like I said...get over it."
Jean pushed his dinner away from hisself and walked away. Levi sighed and walked away also.
"What's wrong with Jean?" Connie asked the very question that was on everyone's mind.
"She replaced Marco. Duh" Sasha said with a mouthful of food.
Everyone's eyes widened. She was like his best friend after such a short time of his other best friend dying. I can't believe non of us knew....well none of us but Sasha.
"How do you know that?" Armin asked.
"It obvious. He never tried anything with her and they were really close after knowing each other for like 2 minutes."
Mikasa smiled. "I told you he didn't like her like that."
Honestly, knowing Jean didn't have a thing for Naomi made me feel a little better but knowing I could never act on my feelings really pissed me off. All because I opened my big mouth and made her feel bad for Levi...
