Davia and Callie are sitting out by the pool drinking wine. Davia hesitates before she speaks.
DAVIA
Why did you move out of the Coterie?
CALLIE
You really have no clue why?
DAVIA
If I did, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.
Callie feels a hint of annoyance coming on, but she takes a breath and starts talking.
CALLIE
The 'Coterie Biatches' chat.
DAVIA
What about the chat?
CALLIE
I saw the text chain. You wrote Eliza's chalice on my mug and then everyone was talking shit about me.
DAVIA
Oh yeah... I remember that.
CALLIE
Why did you do that?
Davia looks out at the street lights of the LA night and sighs.
DAVIA
I don't know...
CALLIE
Hmm.
Callie takes a sip of her wine. Davia takes a breath before she speaks.
DAVIA
I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have said those things. I was upset about everything that was going on with Dennis at the time and I know that is no excuse. What I did was wrong and I'm sorry.
CALLIE
Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that.
DAVIA
You can have your mug back.
CALLIE
It's okay, you keep it.
DAVIA
Seriously?
CALLIE
Yeah. I can always buy a new one.
DAVIA
Thanks.
CALLIE
Sure.
A moment of silence passes between them.
CALLIE
So friends?
DAVIA
Sure, why not. I like you better than Isabella.
CALLIE
Hmm so we agree on something.
DAVIA
Yeah, we do.
They both laugh, clinking their glasses of wine, and taking a sip.
INT. SPECKULATE - GREEN ROOM - NIGHT
Mariana is packing up her bag for the night, putting some folders in her purse. She hears the sound of footsteps. No, the sound of squeaky footsteps. Mariana knows exactly who it is before she even turns around.
MARIANA
Evan.
EVAN
Mariana.
MARIANA
What are you doing here so late?
EVAN
I could ask you the same question.
MARIANA
I had a busy day.
EVAN
So did I.
MARIANA
I should go.
EVAN
Wait— I've been... I've been trying to talk to you all day but you've been avoiding me.
MARIANA
I'm not avoiding you. Work is just busy.
EVAN
Mariana, if I could just say—
MARIANA
No I know what your going to say.
EVAN
Okay.
MARIANA
Okay?
EVAN
I just... wanted to talk about us.
