•Chapter Six: I Don't Hate You•

•Jack•

Emma and I were heading to the pool. Thanks to Emma, I've figured out that Elsa's little cousin Jamie is visiting for the year; something about his parents going on a trip. Elsa has to watch him most of the time, but she's still working and everything.

"You ready?" Emma asks, grinning.

"Yeah! I think this secret admirer thing has grown on me." It'll all be over in a few days. Today I'm giving her breakfast, tomorrow a gift and message, and finally the next day I will meet her in person and tell her the truth.

I take a deep breath and get out of the car. "Let's do this."

Emma and I slip onto the deck. Fortunately, Elsa is not on guard right now. Unfortunately, she's spending her break with that idiotic, pathetic, son of a... Er, her boyfriend. Elsa and Kuzco are sitting in the shade just talking. They seem to be laughing about something. It's nice to see her laugh.

"How am I supposed to get it to her when her boyfriend's sitting right there?"

Emma thinks for a second, scanning the water. "Maybe just wait until her break is over?"

"Yeah, that works I guess." I sigh impatiently.

Emma shrugs. "While you wait, I'm gonna go for a swim!"

Thankfully, it only takes about a half hour until Kuzco leaves. However, watching Elsa and Kuzco be together for that long was torture. I don't think I could have standed another minute of it! Finally, Elsa goes to one of the stands and replaces the guard sitting there. She scans the water, especially watching where her cousin is.

It's time. I walk over to the lifeguard room place. Everyone stares at me like I'm some kind of alien, but eventually return to doing whatever. They all seem pretty tired. I guess that's what happens when you're out in the sun all day.

I clear my throat. "Hey, you look friendly." I walk over to the only lifeguard that doesn't look busy or annoyed.

The lifeguard smiles. "Can I help you with something?"

"I don't really want to bother you, but yeah." This is so much easier than that time at the mall! "I brought one of the lifeguards breakfast and I want to make sure it's delivered to them."

"Ooh, that's nice of you! Which one?"

"That one." I point to Elsa. Once the lifeguard nods, I hand her the food and little note that just says 'hope you have a great day! Love, your secret admirer'. She looks at it and smiles even wider.

"No problem!" The lifeguard takes it into a mini kitchen place. Normally I would watch to make sure no one eats it, but I've gotta put part two of my plan into action.

I start to walk towards Elsa, but my phone vibrates and I stop. It's from Eugene. Doesn't he know I'm busy?! He's the one that helped plan this part!

Come in lover boy! Is snowflake in position yet?

It's a group message, so Rapunzel responds.

Are you ready to go in, lover boy?

I sigh. They've taken this 'spy' thing to a whole new level. Everyone has nicknames and you don't even wanna know how long it took to convince them that we don't need walkie talkies!

For some reason, I play along with their little game and text back. I'm ready, sundrop. Snowflake is in position and, thankfully, redcarpet is no where to be seen.

How's butterfly? Kristoff asks, joining the conversation.

Butterfly is in the water. I can't see her, but I'm pretty sure she's fulfilling her part of the plan. I'll be going in soon.

Good luck, lover boy.

I sigh, immediately putting my phone away. I have the worst nickname out of all of them, but whatever. It's true. Before I approach Elsa, I scan the water for butterf- I mean Emma. She's in the water just between the deep and shallow ends. It looks like Jamie is with her; as according to plan.

"Hey, Elsa?" I finally approach her.

Elsa doesn't take her eyes off the water, but turns her attention toward me. "Yes?"

"I was just wondering, my little sister's playing over there, and I don't want her to get hurt. Could you just keep an eye on her?"

Finally, Elsa looks at me. She looks surprised to see me, but tries to hide it. "Um, sure. Which one is she?"

I point over at Emma.

"Wait, that's your sister?" Elsa asks, probably connecting her to the girl that handed her the stuff at the café. That's what I'm hoping, anyway.

"Yeah. She's a good swimmer, I just always get kind of overprotective and worry about her. So if you could just make sure she's okay..."

Elsa nods. "I understand; I have a younger sister too. I'll make sure she's okay. Besides, that's kind of my job."

"Thank you. I'm glad you hating me doesn't change the way you feel about protecting people." I smile innocently (which is surprisingly hard for someone like me).

Sighing, Elsa turns her attention back to the pool. "Look: I don't hate you. I know it was just a stupid little thing you did back then and it's over now. You have apologized for it and so I have decided that I'm going to do my best to forget about it because I don't like hating people."

That wasn't the response I was expecting. She doesn't hate me? I mean, that's good! But... Unexpected. Maybe this really will work. "Thanks, Els, that means a lot to me. I'm glad you're able to push away the past like that and realize that I was just a stupid teenager."

She nods again. With nothing else to say, I walk away from the stand, with hopes much higher than before. This plan could totally work now!

My phone buzzes again; this time from hiccup. Well? How did it go?

It was good. Really good, actually.

"Excuse me, sir?" A little girl catches my attention. She looks like she's about four or five.

"Hi there!" I smile at her. I can't help but be extra friendly to kids.

"Can you help me? I cut my finger and it really hurts." The girl shows me a small cut on her finger.

I look around. Shouldn't someone be watching her?! "Uh, sure sweetie. We'll take you to a lifeguard and get that fixed right up."

The girl smiles and I pick her up. I guess I'll just take her over to Elsa.

"What's your name?" I ask.

"Sofia."

"Thats a nice name! I have an aunt named Sofia." I walk over to Elsa quickly.

Once I get there, Elsa gives me a weird look. Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm basically screaming desperate doing this.

"This little girl cut her finger and wanted some help." I explain.

"Oh! Of course, I've got just the right thing!" Elsa takes Sofia from me and helps her. "Are your parents around somewhere?"

"My daddy's over there." Sofia points to a man standing in some long line.

"Okay, I'll take over there, then." Elsa picks the girl up and turns to me. "Uh... Thank you."

I smirk. "See, I do have a heart!"

Elsa rolls her eyes and walks off without another word. Well, at least we're back to eye-rolling. Hopefully, in a few days, everything will be where it needs to be.
