Soulmate AU where you have flowers tattooed on you. They bloom when you meet your soulmate, and wither when they die

The girl with mismatched eyes POV

I groan, and sit up in the med cot.
"Hello?" My voice comes out raspy.
"Is there anyone there?"

I sigh. Of course not.

I get up, out of bed, and do a small, shuffling lap of the room.

Everything aches. Who would of thought that a week of Cryo would hurt so much?

"Hello?" I call out again. Surely the doctors would be here by now.

But on second thoughts, this place doesn't look like Octavia. Octavia doesn't have the massive holograms that cover the walls. Octavia doesn't have the hi-tech that's everywhere.

...
I don't think this is Octavia.

I take a deep breath and lift the blue-grey shirt up a little, so I can see the dozens of rose buds tattooed there.

They've always calmed me, knowing that there's someone out there, willing to love me.

"Look, ma'am, with all due respect-" I hear a voice from outside bargain.
"Please, give me my Uni. Maybe I could catch the last few rounds of the draft."

The draft? What the hell does that mean?

"Tyler, I'm sorry to say this but your Uni is going under quarantine." A female voice says.

"Quarantine?!"

"Yes, quarantine."

He sighs, and goes out of earshot.

I shuffle over to the mirror on the wall, and holy cake what happened?
My messy pixie has a white streak in it, and my lip has smeared blood from a nosebleed on it.

I control my panicked breathing, and focus on dabbing the blood away with a wet towel.

I hear the door hiss open, and a boy stumbles in, followed by a nurse.

At least, I think he's a boy. He's got these pointed ears and this gorgeous olive skin. His nose drips purple blood, and one of his silver braids has come undone.

He turns to me, and I realise that his eyes are a startling violet.

I cry out as my side -the tattooed side- erupts into fiery hot pain.

He winces and touches a previously unseen tattoo on his neck, and disappears underneath his torn uniform.

I watch as the ink unfolds on his neck, twisting and forming into roses.

Roses to match mine.

I can't take it any longer, so I lift up a bit of my shirt and my suspicions are confirmed.
Roses sprawl from my side, sitting like gems on a crown of thorns and vines.

Colour bleeds into the tattoo, rich in reds and greens.

My eyes float up to his violet ones, and I know.

"We're-" I begin.

"Soulmates." He finishes.
