"What the hell are you doing? Get off m—" I hiss as Kal latches his hand onto my arm.
"I'm getting you out of here." He whispers, pulling me to his feet.
"Why? You've left me to rot here for three months, why now?" I spit.
"Because I'm leader of the Unbroken now." He says, a bittersweet expression on his face ,"and I have all the authority I want."
"Ohhh, so your a big boy now." I roll my eyes as he punches in the code to my cell.
Truth is, I'm so drugged up to really care about what he's saying right now. All I know is I'm getting out.
And dealing with the problem the guards left me.
"I get to see Laleth..." I murmur.
"Laleth?" He asks, pulling my body through darkened corridors.
"Our daughter. I had her six months ago. And then you captured me." I spit.
"We have a daughter?"
"I have a daughter."
He leads me to the hangar bays, ignoring the confused looks of his followers.
"Can I...can I see her?" He asks.
"No. I'm not letting you anywhere near her."
"Please, be'shmai. Please."
"I'm not your be'shmai." I mutter, and he sits me down on a couch inside his ship.
He shuts the door and starts firing up the ship, muttering angrily in rapid-fire Syldrathi.
About half an hour into our flight, he finally speaks.
"Why? Why did you not tell me?"
I raise my head ever so slightly to look at him, still keeping my hand on my bandaged side. Of course, Kal doesn't know how badly I'm hurt.
He can only see the malnutrition and the bruises and the flaking blood.
"You were halfway across the damn galaxy." I growl, feeling the ache of my body as the drugs wear off ,"and I am getting you nowhere near my child."
I'm going to keep this facade up as long as I can, but I know I can't maintain it long.
The stab wound in my side will make sure of that.
"Our child." He corrects softly ,"where are you all hiding?"
"Like I'm telling you." I scoff, but hiss in pain, clutching at the side of my stomach.
Kal hurriedly flicks the ship on Autopilot and rushes to me.
"Aurora? Aurora, what's going on?" He asks, trailing his violet eyes down to where my hand is.
"Clio Station." I murmur through the dull haze of pain ,"get us there. Z-Zila can s-stitch.....me up."
"Aurora, n—"
"Go, you s-stupid pixie. Just...go."
He exhales sharply, and rushes over to the Nav controls, no doubt punching in the coordinates.
I can feel the dull haze slowly close over my vision, and the last thing I feel is warm skin against mine.
