Without a Father

fins POV

"We need to do something." Tyler sighs, running a hand through his hair ,"we need to find a place to rest. Somewhere to live while Auri gets better."

"I'm fine." Auri growls, an arm seemingly protective over her stomach.

Weird, but okay.

"No, you're not!" Scar cries ,"you just defeated the Ra'haam, Auri. You need to rest."

Auri gets up out of her seat and starts walking, an arm still over her belly.

"Where are you going?" Scar shouts.

"To rest!" Auri screams back.

I get up and out of my seat with an apologetic smile ,"I'll go see if she's okay."

Tyler nods, and I start running to Auri's room.

"A?" I ask, pushing open her door and then shutting it ,"you okay?"

Auri is quietly sobbing on her bed, knees tucked over her chin.

"Hey, hey, what's going on?" I ask, running to her and sitting down, taking her into my arms.

"I'm f-fine." She sobs, and then curses.

She gets up and runs to the little side bathroom, to vomit I think.

"Auri, what the hell is going on?" I cry.

"It's the baby, Fin." She murmurs, resting herself on the tile ,"I'm having a baby."

"Makers bits Auri!" I cry.

As hurt as I am, I have to stay positive.
For her.

"This is amazing!"

"No. It's not." She sobs ,"my child is going to grow up without a father. Hell, probably without parents at all."

"Hey, don't think like that." I say, desperately trying to comfort her ,"you won't die."

"My body is tired, Fin. It's defeated worlds. This...this won't help." She sighs.
"Just...can you promise me something? Please?"

"Anything." I breathe.

"Tell them stories of us. Tell them about the Mother that saved the world and the Father—" Her voice cracks, fresh tears spilling ,"the Father that was the bravest man in the galaxy."

"I will." I promise, taking her hand in mine.

"And one more thing. If I die, please look after them. Please. You have to promise me on that, okay?" She begs, and I nod.

"Course I will. Always will."

She sighs ,"thank you."

"Have you got names?" I ask.

"Laleth if it's a girl. Kaliis if it's a boy."

"Who's Laleth?"

"Kal's Mother."

"Oh. Pretty names. It'll be perfect."

She smiles.
"Thanks, Fin."

"You're Mother was just the most amazing woman I've ever met." I say to the sleeping babies cradled in my arms ,"she was brave and strong."
"She was my sister, and she was the beautiful."

"And your Father!" I chuckle, shaking my head ,"he was a piece of work. He was Warbreed, you see, trained from birth to fight."
"And, well, he fell in love with your Mother."

"But that's a story for later, Miss Laleth and Mister Kaliis." Scar sighs ,"come on, get them to bed."

I kiss her on the cheek.
"Love you."

"Love you too." She murmurs, and I walk off with my friends children.

Look after them for me, okay?
