It was a slow Wednesday afternoon at the library. You were shelving the books that people recently returned and you heard the door open. Peaking out from the isle, you saw a boy around your age walk in. "Welcome to the public library, let me know if you need any help." You said. He shot you a look and nodded. You looked for the right spot to put the next book as pushed the cart further down the isle. When you found it, you realized that it was on the top shelf. The stool was somewhere else and you didn't feel like going to find it, so you tried to put it up in your own. You stood on your tippy toes and tried to squeeze the book in the small space between two other books. Things didn't turn out nicely when you lost your balance and sent a handful of books falling down next to you. You sighed and squatted down to pick them up. You went to reach the book farthest from you when someone else picked it up. It was the boy who walked in. He started picking up the other books you didn't get to yet. "Thanks." You said. You realized he was staring at the cover at one of the books he was holding. "That's one of my favorite books." You said. He looked at you. "This one?" He asked, motioning towards it. "Yeah. I've read it about 4 times I think." He raised an eyebrow. "How can you read a book more than once? You already know what's going to happen." He said. "Well, why do you watch a move more than once when you already know what's going to happen?" You argued. "That's different." You both stood up. "It's the same thing. I read books more than once because I like them. I pretend I don't know what's going to happen so I can experience it all over again." He scoffed. "That's stupid." He mumbled. You giggled at the poor boy who obviously didn't appreciate the art of reading. You shelved the rest of the books, and with the boy's help, got the ones on the top shelf. You pushed the empty cart back to it's place and saw him still holding the book. "Do you want to check the book out?" You asked. He looked down at the book then back at you. "I don't know." "Well go and read a few pages and see if you like it." He sighed. "That's the thing, I don't want to. My mom always tells me, 'Taehyung, you need to read more. Why don't you ever read?' And I say, 'I don't know, mother. I just can't get into it.'" You thought for a second. "What kind of movies do you like?" "Um, I don't know, action, mystery, I guess." "Follow me." You took him to the mystery section. "Look through these. If you have trouble, look for a cover that's appealing to you." "I'll give it a try." You went back to the counter and continued reading a book. Later, the boy named Taehyung came up to you. "I found these." He said, showing you three books. "That's a good start. Did you read a few pages of each?" He shook his head. You led him to a table and sat him down. "Pick one up and start reading it. If you like it, set it aside then pick another one." "Okay." About 15 minus later, Taehyung was still reading the first one he picked up, so you went up to him. "Do you like this one?" "Are you kidding, I think I want to marry this book. I've never been so into this whole reading thing, but something about this one..." He trailed off. You smiled. "Do you want to check it out?" You asked. He nodded. The next day, he came back. "I'm finished." He said. You raised your eyebrows. "Already?" He smiled. "Yeah, I couldn't out it down all night." This was the start of a new friendship. He came into the library almost everyday to check out a book. He was standing at the counter keeping you company on another slow day, a few other people were browsing the isles. "You know, you've read quite a lot these past few months." You said. "I know, and it's all thanks to you, (y/n). My mom doesn't think I'm a disappointment anymore." He said with a thumbs up. You giggled and sighed. "Taehyung, are you going to look for another book today?" He shook his head. "No, I came here for something else." "What?" "You. One of the reasons I came here everyday was to see you all the time. I saw how much you liked to read and, I wanted to have that in common." You smiled. "I'm glad you come here a lot, I like seeing you." "Do you want to hang out today? We can go to dinner after your shift is over." You nodded. "I'd love to." That was the start of a beautiful relationship.
