Coming Out

Have you ever looked at your child, and felt all their pain,
Glimpsed their struggle,
That bent their brain,
Causing them to tense and strain

Emotionally distraught,
Maybe about what they forgot,
Lost or felt or feared or not,
Their mind can't process,
Clearly a thought

You swim in their sea,
Of empathetic sorrows,
It feels as if there's no end,
There will be no tomorrows

But its only a glimpse,
A sneak peak,
For answers you search,
And truths you seek

What you find is surprising
You nearly shriek,
The truth of their struggle,
it makes you weak

A confusion that you,
could never understand,
A secret they keep
that's anything but bland

Your daughter your girl,
Identifies a man,
It's not a choice she made,
it was present at first hand,

I want to tell her,
that everything's gonna be okay,
That you'll always love her,
no matter weather,
shes straight or shes gay,
But the right words don't come,
You have nothing to say

Then you realize those words would be more than enough,
And the words came so easy,
Speaking them is not tough

You sat her down
And gave your speech
You expressed your love
And began to preach

I love you
I support you in all that you do
But your life is your own
and your decisions up to you

Just be sure to enjoy this life because its all that youve got
Don't worry of others opinions don't give them a thought
So long as it makes you happy
Do it! Why not?
