EIGHT

over the next week things were a little awkward between the group. drew wanted to ask lemon out again but thought he had messed things up too much by not kissing her and lemon was angry at him for not asking her out again

"i've had enough of this" jd said getting off the couch from in-between lemon and drew
"enough of what?" lemon asked confused
"you two!" jd yelled pointing at them "you guys are being so awkward around each other and it's getting to me. especially making me sit in between you guys"
"i totally agree" madelyn yelled from the kitchen where she was cooking dinner with chase
"whatever guys" drew rolled his eyes, looking back down at his phone
"i'm not feeling well, i'm going to go nap" lemon said leaving the chase's apartment

"see what you did drew" chase pointed at the door lemon just left out of
"look, i don't want to get hurt. she just got out of a relationship and i don't know if she's ready for another relationship." drew explained
"drew, trust me when i say this, i've known her since we were in elementary school, she wouldn't have said yes to your date if she wasn't ready." madelyn replied.

after dinner madelyn, chase, jd , and rudy were just hanging out and drinking some beers.

"hey guys, i think i'm going to head out" drew said standing up
"already?" rudy asked "it's only 9:30"
"yeah, austin and i were planning on working out early tomorrow and i know if i stay any longer i'll be home really late" he answered
"okay, goodnight" chase smiled

but instead of going back to his apartment he went to maddie and lemon's

lemon put down her ben and jerry's ice cream and walked over to answer the door. "drew? what's up?"
"i need to talk to you"
"okay come on in" lemon opened the door wider
"i'm sorry i haven't asked you out again. i was scared, scared that you weren't ready and i would get hurt or something would do wrong and our friendship would be ruined" drew ranted
"i totally understand but i want you to know that i would never say yes to your date unless i knew i was ready. i'm not the type of person to date around and use people, i don't go on dates with just anyone" lemon explained sitting next to drew
"i must be special then" drew flirted
"maybe you are" lemon smiled
"in that case we should go out again" drew suggested
"dinner again?" lemon asked
"it'll be a surprise. tomorrow at 4?"
"it's a date" lemon smiled "but can we like, keep it between us? not that i'm embarrassed or anything, just all of our friends get so annoying and i know they won't stop talking about it"

"i was thinking the same thing. i have to actually go home now, so goodnight" drew said hugging her. lemon hugged him back, the happiest she had been in a long time, just in his arms.

elaine and maddie walked into lemon's room as she was picking out an outfit.

"so we were thinking a girls day. what do you think?" elaine asked laying on the bed
"why are you in your closet?" madelyn asked laying next to elaine
"i actually can't do a girls day, maybe a girls night?" lemon offered
"no we can't do a girls night because it's date night with me and chase" madelyn reminded her
"aww i'm so happy you guys are official"
"don't change the subject. where are you going?"
"a hike" lemon responded quickly
"fine girls night tomorrow" maddie said
"by yourself? you're a girl, you can't do that, you'll get kidnapped or killed or something" elaine said
"i'm not that dumb, i'm going with some friends. you don't know them" lemon trailed off "i'm thinking this purple set"
"totally the purple set" maddie said "well, have fun and be safe, don't get kidnapped!"
"i won't!" lemon called out to her as maddie and elaine walked out of the room

"drew we've been walking for 3 hours now! where are you taking me?" lemon put her hands on her knees to catch her breath
"kickboxing classes not helping you?" drew replied stopping next to her
"don't even" lemon laughed "are you trying to kill me?"
"maybe" drew dragged on
"drew!"
"i'm just kidding, but it's a surprise so i'm not telling you yet. about 30 more minutes until we get there. i mean that's if you stop complaining and taking breaks"
"haha you're so funny" she fake laughed as she punched his arm
drew picked her up and started to run up the trail
"drew! what are you doing?!" lemon laughed as she hit his back
"trying to get there faster, slow poke" drew continued to run

"and here we are" drew said stopping at a point that overlooked the whole trail and perfect view of the sunset
"aww drew this is beautiful" lemon gushed
"ehh, i've seen better" he said looking at her
"how did you know this was up here?" lemon asked
"austin and i hiked up here about a month ago"
"bring all your girls up here?" lemon laughed
"that would require me asking girls out" drew answered as the he set out a blanket for them to sit down
"you asked me out"
"you're different" drew responded looking lemon in the eyes then down at her lips but looking away and back at the sunset, hoping she didn't notice. but she did.
"seriously drew?!" lemon angrily stood up
"what?" drew replied confused on her mood swing
"do you want me to make the first move?! is there something wrong with me?! you take me out on these dates and you make me feel so special and i get so excited and get butterflies but then nothing happens!" lemon ranted "are you gay and using me as some sort of cover up for your friends?"
drew had enough of her rant and stood in front of her. she hadn't noticed until drew placed his lips on hers, her reaction was slow but she eventually started to kiss him back. they both immediately felt sparks and couldn't get enough. they pulled apart for air and rested their foreheads against each other.
"definitely not gay" lemon said quietly biting her lip
