Chapter 9

My eyes shot open and I let out a gasp. I shot up out of bed and gasped for air.

"Easy!" A voice exclaimed as they forced me to lay back down.

My eyes landed on Joanna and I let out a sigh of relief.

"It's okay, you are safe." She said as she sent me a smile.

"Peter-"

From the look on her face I knew that he was gone.

"Where is Alex?" I asked angrily.

"His cell.... we have cameras watching him."

"What happen after I passed out?" I asked softly.

"Ben came to check on you... he tackled Peter." She said softly.

"Where is Ben?"

She looked away and my heart stopped.

"Jo... where is Ben?" I asked softly.

"I'm sorry... he... he didn't make it." She said softly.

I felt tears stream down my face and I leaned back. I felt a sob leave my lips as Jo pulled me into a hug. I couldn't believe it... he couldn't be gone, not Ben... not the love of my life.

An hour passed and then I was able to get up. I quickly made my way to the cells and I saw Alex alone.

"He's dead." He said not looking up at me.

"Yes... and it's your fault. You killed a good man! You killed one of the greatest Captains Starfleet had ever had! You killed the love of my life! And for what? Revenge?" I asked as I glared at him.

"I'm sorry.... I was just so angry... and I just wanted.. revenge."

"And you got it... but you killed two innocent people. You killed Benjamin Kirk and Peter Preston.... their blood is on your hands." I said as I turned and walked away.

I felt tears stream down my face as I walked to my room. I unlocked the door and kept my eyes on he ground.

"Miss me?" A voice asked.

My head shot up and I felt tears stream down my face as my eyes landed on him.

"Ben?" I asked softly.

"Hey." He said softly.

"You bastard!" I yelled as I started to hit him.

I pounded my hands on his chest as tears continued to stream down my face. After awhile he grabbed my hands and met my eyes.

"I hate you." I said through tears.

"I love you too." He said softly.

I quickly grabbed his face and pulled him into a kiss. He let out a sigh and gently kissed me back.

"You ever do that again and I swear-"

"I know... I'm sorry."

I pulled away and met his eyes.

"Peter...."

"Is fine. I had Bones lie do we could punish Alex... and get him off our backs." He explained.

"You bastard!" I yelled as I hit him again.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't tell either you or Jo." He said softly.

"You better be lucky I love you to much.... or I would kill both you and Peter."

"I know." He said as he kissed my forehead.

He moved his hands to my side and I let out a yelp.

"Sorry." He said as he pulled away.

"It's okay, just sore."

He nodded his head and gently kissed me again.

After fully recovering we decided to return Kirk and the others home. The Klingon's left on another ship leaving us on our own. Alex was taken away on another Starfleet ship, locked away and left without his pendant.

We all decided to take shore leave and like always Ben got wasted and I was forced to help him home.

"Come on." I said as he put his arm around my shoulder.

I carried him up the stairs and laid him in his bed. He made grabby hands and sent me a pout.

"Snuggles." He whined.

"Fine." I said as I took my shirt off and slipped on one of his over size shirts.

I set beside him and he pulled me into a hug. I smiled softly and gently hugged him back. The next morning I woke up and felt someone playing with my hair.

"I love you." Ben said softly.

"I love you too." I said as I leaned up and gently kissed him.

He pulled me closer and kept me on his embrace.

"Say it again." He whispered against my lips.

"I love you." I said over and over again as I kept pecking his lips.

He sent me a smile as he pulled me into a hug.

"Do you think we can keep it hidden?" I asked softly.

"We can do anything we want." He said softly.

I sent him a smile and leaned up and kissed him again.

I was soon forced to pull away when my tablet went off.

"Who is it?" He asked as he kept his arms around me.

"My mother. She wants me to come to the house." I said as I pulled away from him.

"Want me to come?"

"No, I'll be fine." I said as I pecked his lips.

"I tell you I love you?"

"Yes, but you can tell me again."

"I love you." He said as he pulled me into another kiss.

"My mother can wait another hour." I thought as I allowed him to roll over onto me.
