DEATH THREATS AND INTRODUCTIONS
DIEGO
LUTHER STARED at Cass in shock.
"What do you mean you're like us? You're just a kid."
Diego fought the urge to roll his eyes. Cass started to explain. "That's what I'm getting to but-"
"CASSIE!!" Diego watched as his Cass broke into a wild grin and turned around to face the person addressing her.
"KLAUSY!!" She yelled back at the man that held his arms out expectantly.
She ran into his embrace and he spun her small body around in the air.
Pogo, Diego, and Luther all looked on with different expressions. Pogo with one of amusement, Diego with concern that his brother would drop the girl he cared for, and Luther with his usual confusion.
"I missed you Cassie-bear!" Klaus exclaimed, and Diego smiled at the sight of Cass admiring his painted nails.
Luther nudged Diego and whispered, "Who is she and why is she here? You know this is a family matter." The latter man scowled. "She's more my family than you will ever be, space boy."Diego looked back at Klaus and Cass, but noticed they had already slipped away. Diego closed his eyes. "KLAUS IF YOU LET CASSIE TRY ANY OF YOUR PILLS, YOU'RE GONNA BE AS DEAD AS THOSE GHOSTS YOU SEE!!!!" Diego heard Cass and his brother giggle from somewhere in the house. "PROMISE?" Klaus yelled back. Diego just rolled his eyes fondly and walked to the dining room to find something to eat.
CASS
A few minutes after Diego had threatened Klaus's life, Cass made her way downstairs to explore. She walked into one of the main rooms, but stopped when she saw a giant painting of a boy above a fireplace. He had a hard set jaw and a bored expression. There was something eerily familiar about his eyes to Cass, and she couldn't help but stumble back. She turned around quickly and came face-to-face with a woman that she could only guess was Allison, Diego's glamorous, movie-star sister. Allison looked startled by the girl, but smiled at her after a few seconds.
"You must be Cassiopeia!!" Cass looked at her, confused as to how she knew her. "Klaus talks about you all the time." She explained, and stuck her hand out. "I'm Allison." Cass smiled back and shook her hand.
"So what-" The woman was interrupted by a small voice.
"Who is that?"
Cass turned around to see the woman that was the author of Diego's favorite book, Extra Ordinary. Anger boiled in Cassiopeia's chest as she thought of the night that Diego had read the book and had a mental breakdown at the ripe age of 20 because of the harsh things Vanya wrote about him. He was so upset his stutter had returned, and Cass would never forget it.
"I-I didn't say that, I promise!"
"I know, Dee." The younger-looking girl soothed, rubbing his back as he hung his head over his sister's hurtful words."It wasn't my f-fault she wasn't included, d-dad kept her away! A-and anyways when we all went to Griddy's she refused to g-go with us!" He looked up with tears in his eyes. "Please believe me, I'm not the monster she says I am!"
Cass's heart broke at how vulnerable her friend was. She engulfed him into a hug, and his tearyvface pressed into her neck."I believe you, bub."
Cass hid her anger well, pushing it down like she did with all of her negative feelings.
"I'm Cassiopeia," She said, and waved slightly at the woman. "You must be Vanya." Vanya gave a small smile. "Could I borrow Allison for a moment, we're having a family meeting." She said. Cass gave her a fake smile and nodded.
After the women had left Cassiopeia in the parlor, Jet appeared. "Was that-"
"Vanya? Yes." He scowled. "Ooh if I were alive-" Cass cut him off with a chuckle. "It's alright, she was civil." Jet raised his brow. "Uh huh." He said skeptically. The two sat in silence for a moment.Cass looked at him mischievously. "You know, I could really go for a free milkshake right about now."
