I'll tell you a secret
the really bad monsters
never look like monsters at all
— — —

I crouch down in the closet and shut the door as quietly as possible. It had been 3 month since I got the assignment and the customer was getting pissy about it already. They want the first lady dead today otherwise they are going to kill me. Or at least they are going to try too.

It wouldn't be easy but my customer is stupidly stubborn and determined so I don't doubt they will try their hardest despite me being who I am. My family is the second hand in the Italian-American mafia and watch over the base here in Italy. Whilst my Aunt and Uncle are the ex dons of the whole mafia they only run the base in America. Or atleast they used to before they passed down the job to their only son (Nico).

Nico had only taken the position of Don a few years ago and still lived with his parents. Thankfully they had stayed in New York and helped their empire over there. No offense to my cousin even though he is super smart and calculated, he is also a selfish, little bitch sometimes.

My aunts, Regina and Aurora, and my mom, Ava, trained me to be the best assassin. By the age of 15 I had been nicknamed the phantom and people feared me. Obviously they didn't know I was a 15 year old girl. That was due to my older sister ,Addilyn ,who was trained to disguise and hide our identities.

The door bangs open which effectively brings me out of my train of thought and I hear the wicked women move around the walk in wardrobe; thankfully she hadn't noticed me yet and I hope it stays this way. I needed to kill her and then run for it.

Stefano (the evil women's step son) thought I had gone home an hour ago and it needed to stay that way. He and the prime minister weren't that bad which confused me. Why would the nice, old man marry the nasty old witch?

I clear my thoughts and focus on my mission. My hand goes to my side and grabs the blade that was laced in poison. She shuts the door before locking it. Bingo. I slip out the closet and turn the lights out.

Miriam shrieks and whirls around to face me in the dark. Her eyes search frantically around and I can't help but giggle.

"Whose there? Is it money you want? I will pay you" She cries, waving her arms around her. I considerate it for a moment. No matter how horrible she had been to me these past few months, she got along with Stefano and I don't know if it's wicked to take his 2nd mom away from him.

I quickly shake my head, banishing the thought. I shouldn't and couldn't think like that especially not now. I've only ever felt bad for killing someone once before and that was because she was an innocent. I mean killing is in my blood. In all my families blood.

She deserved this and I wasn't going to back out now.

I prowl closer to her whilst masking my footsteps until I'm face to face to her. My hand covers her mouth and she freezes simultaneously.

"Boo" I whisper and she starts thrashing in my hold. I tut and pinch her nose with my other hand to completely cut off her air supply. She stops moving again and I take my hand from her nose. Salty tears land on my hand and I stroke them away in what should be a comforting manner.

"Oh don't cry, Miriam, I'll make it quick, how about that?" I taunt and she tries to talk beneath my hand.

Someone starts knocking on the door and I sigh, "Guess that is the end of my fun".

I take a brisk step away from her and she goes to scream but I place one hand on her jaw and the other on the back of her head. Using all my force, I push up and to the side. A large crack echoes in the room and she goes limp in my arms. I set her on the floor before opening the vent and crawling through.

The door bangs open and I hear a guard scream and rush back out the room. I smirk and make my way out of the Randazzo estate.

Yet another job finished. But something felt different this time and I have no idea what or why I'm feeling like this.
