Shoving her phone in her pocket, she looked up at Tsukishima who leaned against the hallway wall. "So, what did you want to talk about?"

The blond shuffled in his spot, glancing up at Hotaru who waited patiently. "Well,"

"I wanna get back together."

Was what she expected to hear from the male who stood before her.

"How am I?" Hotaru restated his question with raised eyebrows. The boy nodded, meeting her eyes for a moment then looking back down. She shrugged, shifting her weight to her other foot, "Hmm, I've been okay. If we're talking literally, I'm hungry because Haji and Tooru forced me out of the house before I could get some breakfast."

Tsukishima nodded lightly, showing that he was listening to what she had to say. "I see."

If you know how I feel, why would you say that? Like you put me in such an uncomfortable situation like you know I'm not happy, you know I'm trying- Her mental quoting came to an abrupt end when he spoke up.

"When'd you get braces?" The question caught her by surprise.

Tapping her chin, Hotaru answered, "Hm, maybe a year ago? Haji's mom offered to pay for my braces hehe. Dad ended up paying for it though."

He nodded. After a long paused, he started up again, "Do you have a new boyfriend?" He asked, his expression void of any emotion, just neutral.

Hotaru quickly shook her head, making an X with her fingers. "No. Everyone at Seijoh play too much. Especially Tooru." She made a sour face at the mention of the male who was messing around with too many girls for anyone's liking.

"Ah, that's good." Tsukishima muttered, shifting in his spot.

Good? 🤨 sir- Hotaru flashed him a semi-confused smile that he pretended not to see.

"I want to get back together."

Hotaru's smile remained, "Hehe what was that?" As if she was hit by a ton of bricks, her eyes widened like saucers and she jumped back. "Sorry, WHAT-"

He began to scratch the back of his neck, looking off to the side to avoid look her in the face. "Yeah."

"Yo, I think your head is broken. What's going on? Did you get hit by a volleyball recently? Jeez. We should call the nurs-" Hotaru was cut off by Tsukishima covering her mouth with his hand, sighing lightly.

"My head is fine. Thank you very much." He muttered curtly as he let go of her mouth, returning to his on the wall. "This sounds cliche as hell but after you left, I realized that...I probably shouldn't have done or said those things before." (He also got his ass beat by his mother and brother when they found out what he said to her)

The expression on his face was so like him. Eyebrows scrunched together with a prominent frown on his lips as he avoided her eyes, looking at the floor. She knew he was nervous based on the way he played with his hands, a habit he's had since he was young.

"Tsukishima," She started as she took a step towards him. "Uh, you and I being together probably isn't a good idea. I appreciate that you feel bad and want to fix things but a relationship is not what we need."

The male's expression didn't change to much, a new tactic he had learned over the last two years which was to be emotionless on the outside during times like this. "I see."

"But hey," Hotaru reached out, grabbing his hand to shake it. "We can still be friends."

His hand moved naturally, mimicking her movements as they began to do the handshake they made up as children. When it came to an end, she smiled and put her hand in her pocket, "It was nice seeing you."

"Hotaru," Kunimi called out as he peeked his head around the corner. "The match is about to begin."

"Ah, right!" Hotaru turned to Tsukishima, giving him finger guns. "Good luck! Be ready to lose!"

With a whoosh of wind, she was out of the hallway, running after Kunimi who was already walking away. Tsukishima stood in the hall for a bit longer before walking off to join his team for the practice match.

"So what happened?" Kindaichi asked as Hotaru was surrounded by the boys, blocking everyone's view from what the female spoke of.

"He fucking asked to get back together! I thought it was a damn joke but it wasn't!" Hotaru gesticulated her arms, accidentally hitting Kindaichi in the stomach. "Sorry-"

"No, no, it's fine." Kindaichi muttered painfully.

"Well, what'd you tell him? Don't tell me you were a dumbass and went back to him?" Iwaizumi asked as he grabbed her head, reading to pop her like a balloon if she actually went back to him.

"What? No! I asked him if his head was broken then told him that he and I would just be friends." Hotaru said with a huff, unable to believe her brother would think she was that easy. It would take a lot more to get me back.

"Good." He ruffles her hair gently, praising the girl who smiled softly. "Now go sit down on the bench beside coach and be good. Don't disturb the match or I'll beat your ass."

"Yes, sir." She saluted, heading iver to the bench to sit beside Coach Irihata and Coach Mizoguchi.

"Let's have a good match!"

As the match went on, Hotaru could feel her eyes beginning to drift towards Karasuno's side. He was taller, probably over 6ft by now. His blond was the same length as before, maybe even a little shorter. His rectangle black framed glasses sat on the bridge of nose, worrying Hotaru who thought it would fly off. His body was long and slender, not too buff not too skinny. She wanted to kick herself.

It almost seemed like he had become more ideal than he was before. Which was a good thing since it would've been weird if she had the same taste as when they were 12-13.

Tearing her eyes away from the male, she looked down at her feet and sighed. I don't like him anymore. Whatever was between us is gone now. We're just friends or whatever.
