trigger warning: strong language, mentions of alcohol

THE BREAKUP, ch. 14
George ended up coming over to Jacob's house to join in on helping out the crew. Zak, Darryl, Jacob, George, and Brianna spent the evening setting up for the party. At one point one of Jacob's older friends showed up with some booze. Brianna and Jacob went out to buy some red solo cups.

As Zak, Darryl, and George finished up their work, George decided he would try and mention something. "Clay was nice to me today," He announced to the two boys.

Zak just nodded and Darryl said "Mhm." Both of the students genuinely thought that George was being sarcastic, that's why they answered with such dismissal.

"No, I'm being serious," George insisted.

Zak sat up from where he was working. The short boy was currently making a sign that said 'If you throw fists you're thrown out'. "So he was actually nice to you?" He asked for clarification.

"Yes!" George exclaimed.

Darryl's eyebrows furrowed. "How?" He asked George.

George shrugged. "I dunno he was just... I asked him what he was drawing and he started to joke with me instead of yelling at me," He explained. "He also apologized for calling me that homophobic slur so I forgave him."

Zak dropped his sharpie in shock. "Why?!" He said with surprise. "George, he had you pinned down against the concrete. Do you know how scared Darryl and I were? Hell, Jacob literally got himself suspended for you."

George shook his head. "I didn't forgive him for doing that. I only forgave him for using that slur. It's called development," He snapped. He then frowned when he realized how harshly he said that. "I'm sorry, I'm just a little uptight about the subject."

Darryl tilted his head. "It's okay, George," He assured the boy.

"I guess it's your choice whether you forgive him or not," Zak admitted. "If you do really care about Clay though, I'll have to warn you about something."

George looked over at Zak in confusion. "About what?" He asked.

"Darryl and I are pretty sure that Alice is going to out Clay at the party tomorrow," Zak informed George.

George's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "What?!" He exclaimed. "Clay is gay?!"

"That rhymes," Darryl commented.

"Well, I don't know if he's gay necessarily..." Zak muttered. "He just... kissed me... intimately... and it wasn't a dare or anything," He added slowly. "But we were both drunk so I have no idea."

"Drunk actions are sober thoughts," Darryl pointed out.

Zak pointed at Darryl. "What he said."

"So, you don't think Clay is 100% gay either?" George asked Zak.

Zak just shrugged. "I don't know what I'm supposed to think."

George's eyebrows knitted together. "Wait, but how does Alice know?"

"Zak told her," Darryl blurted.

George glared at Zak. "We were dating, we told each other everything!" Zak argued in defense.

George sighed. "Well, thanks for telling me, but I'm not sure if I'll be much help," He admitted in defeat.

"Wait but aren't you friends with Clay?" Zak questioned.

George's mouth fell open. "Just because I forgave him doesn't make us besties! I can't just walk up to him and be like 'Alice told Zak and Zak told me that she's going to out you at the party' and expect him to be okay about it."

Darryl shrugged and looked over at Zak. "He's got a point."

Zak sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He then saw the door opening from Brianna and Jacob entering the house. "We can talk about this later," He muttered to George and Darryl before heading to greet his other two friends.

That night, the friend group decided to sleep over at Jacob's house. Jacob ended up setting up the sleepover in the living room, pulling the two couches out into queen beds and dragging a mattress into the room.

"Brianna and I will get one couch, Darryl and Zak get the other, George is on the floor," Jacob announced to the crew.

Brianna raised an eyebrow. "If you touch me in your sleep you're getting a punch to the balls," She warned him.

Jacob's eyes widened. "On second thought... George, you wanna switch places?" He asked desperately.

George smiled. "Sure! I would love to sleep next to Brianna!" He declared.

Brianna couldn't help but grin. "Aww, Georgie! We can cuddle if you want," She offered.

"What?!" Jacob exclaimed in astonishment. "Why can you cuddle George and threaten to punch me?"

Brianna laughed. "George is gay, sweetheart," She pointed out to him. "I cuddle with the girls and the gays, that's it."

George beamed at that statement and got into bed next to Brianna. Jacob sighed and took the mattress, pulling blankets over himself. Darryl and Zak got into the other bed together.

"Guys, I have to suggest something and you're not gonna like it," Zak suddenly told the group.

George scrunched up his face. "What is it?"

Zak sighed. "I don't think we should drink at the party tomorrow."

George, Jacob, and Darryl seemed fine with the proposal. Brianna sat up quickly, though. "What? I just fought a bitch, Zak. I need to get drunk, hon."

Zak shook his head. "No, we're all way too close to the drama. I have a feeling that Alice is going to drink her heart out and I don't want one of my friends to accidentally start something. Especially you, Brianna."

Brianna groaned. "Okay, you're right," She admitted with annoyance.

"So, it's a promise then?" Zak asked his friend group.

Everyone nodded.

"Cool," Zak said with a smile.

As everyone got situated in their beds, Zak moved himself towards Darryl and stuffed his face in the taller's neck. Darryl blushed but didn't say anything as he wrapped his arms around Zak and held him close. Skeppy pressed his nose against the underside of his jaw slightly, allowing Darryl to feel his hot breath down his neck. Darryl squirmed a bit but didn't do much else.

Brianna noticed the boys cuddling and just smirked to herself. George saw where she was looking and glanced in their direction. He couldn't help but smile widely at the two boys holding one another.

Jacob was completely oblivious and already halfway asleep.

Eventually the entire friend group had fallen asleep, dreaming about the chaos that would ensue at the party.
