Chapter 33

You could feel the vibration on the floor from the Mind Flayer's thundering steps. You closed your eyes and tried to focus your mind on something else. You looked to your left to see El's leg behind a stand, you looked to your right to see Lucas's hand under the car. Then you could hear Mike's walkie from behind the pillar. 

"Girswold family this is Scoops Troop! Do you copy over?!" Dustin's voice exclaimed.

You felt the steps getting closer, you felt one of the arms pick up the walkie from behind the pillar. You knew it was close to you, you could feel it. You heard Dustin repeat what he said again and the Mind Flayer roared into the walkie. You heard it hit a wall and break, you looked to your right to see it by the car.

You heard the thundering steps move around to your left. You knew if you stayed where you were it would see you, you shuffled over to the other side of the pillar facing the car in the distance. You put your head around the corner to see the part from your face and El's leg join the Mind Flayer, it roared and looked in your direction. You rapidly flew your head back around and put it against the pillar. You moved back to where you were as you heard it move back towards the center of the mall. As one of it gigantic legs moved past you you felt the pillar crumble and a bit of concrete fell on the floor in front of you. Your eyes widened as you watched it move around to the car where you knew Will was. As it got closer you held out in front of you and concentrated. You closed your eyes and thought to yourself. When you opened them again the mist slowly came around your fingers, you quickly looked to your left to see Mike, Max and El moving into The GAP. You shook your head forgetting they couldn't see you. And just as you thought they knocked over a metal pole. 

You heard the Mind Flayer quickly run over making you loose focus, you shuffled back over so you wouldn't be seen. You looked over your shoulder to see many of the arms going inside of The GAP, as the Mind Flayer's head turned back in your direction. You quickly leaned back against the wall and tucked in your legs and your head. You slowly looked behind the pillar and saw the Mind Flayer's attention was back on finding El, as you held out your hand you saw Lucas stand up from behind the car, he aimed his wrist rocket over in a far corner. You looked around to see he was aiming at some balloons. Lucas pulled back the string and when he leg go you heard one of the balloons pop, the Mind Flayers attention went to them and you looked over to see it moving away and too the balloons. 

You saw Will, Jonathan, Nancy and Lucas all get up from behind the car and hop over the counter. Will stopped and signaled you too follow him. You shook your head and signaled for him to go and mouthed the word go. He shook his head and you heard the Mind Flayer roar, you signaled again and Will hesitated then ran back. You heard the thundering steps walk back into the center of the mall, you tried to read Mike, Max or El's mind but when you did you knew they had gone. It was just you and the Mind Flayer.
