IYLAAN Kior Davis aka "Bhuka"

"GIRL WAKE YO ASS UP WE GOT SHIT TO DO" my bestfriend Serenity came into my room screaming.

"GIRL SHUT UP" I yelled back groggily . I still had my face deep inside my pillow.

Serenity has been my bestfriend since I could remember. I'm talking diapers to fights. Our mommas are best friends too so you know how that go. I live in LA in my own apartment, cool 2 bedroom. I'm 21, just graduated from UCLA. I'm going to law school after summer studying to be a lawyer. Being a lawyer has been my dream since I could remember, tired of seeing minorities and People of color sent away the rest of their lives for something they didn't commit.

I grew up okay, momma always made a way for my big brother Delani whose 24 and little sister Kaiyln whose 17. Dad been in the Marine since I was a young , he come visit sometimes. We didn't have it all, lived in the hood most of our lives but moved out when I was about 17 into a nicer neighborhood. Now I live by myself  I start my job in 3 weeks at H&M plus constantly doing hair.  I couldnt be more excited about law school, I know it's gonna be tough so I'm enjoying this summer as much as a can.

"Girl hurry up, the hood niggas out todayyyyy" she said twerking.

"Girl you so ghetto BYE", I laughed.

"Nah fr, get dressed pooh, I'm finna go find me some food" she said.

"BITCH DONT EAT ALL MY SHIT" I yelled pulling the covers back and dragging my body out the bed.

2 hours later ....
Once we got to the house there were boys on the steps too.
"WASSSUPP Iylaan" Justin said hugging me, he was my brothers friend.

Delani cool with a the hoodlums, yea he respected but he ain't into the street life all too much, he only doing a little to earn up for his shop. He's working on owning his own barber shop. He barely be out here though so idk what he be having going on.

We walked into Jayloni's house full of dudes, and they not all us usually here like this.

"Hell nah" I said lowly. I hate being around people I don't know, not my style ...

I recognized most faces, Deon, Jayloni,  and scooter. They was all the homies, been coo since high school days. They all was in the streets but still graduated, I really commend them for that, I know it's hard to be out here tryna make a living and still getting up to come to school. But them niggas did it.

Bhuka was my nick name since 10, grams gave it to me. Ever since I just been telling people to call me that. Why my granny died, it really took a toll on me. I stopped hanging outside as much with the guys and focused more on school. Granny wanted me to go to UCLA so I was determined to, and I did.
