this one is one that just popped into my head and i am typing it now to make sure i don't forget it. it is a good one considering that both animes are set in the ocean. though one is set in the far distant future and the other a decade or two away.
to have the fog ship appear in the world of the gargantia anime i can think of two solutions, one is a massive storm appears and transports the ship or the ship is sunk in battle by a corrosive torpedo or missile while its super gravity is at critical. Have the ship be from a cruiser class and larger. this is because ships like destroyers and submaries do not have super gravity cannons if they are standard.
its is in the episode where iona and the crew are fighting against takao. have them appear one or two years before the start of the anime but join gargantia around 2 to 3 months after ledo joins gargantia, it can be more or less time it is up to you. like i have said before the dirction and events of the story will have to change to fit the added character.
