This one is a little personal, aldnoah was one of the first anime that I watched and is what got me hooked on to mechs in anime or novels.
In this fanfiction the oc will be either a martian kataphrakt pilot or be an earthling that pilots an earth kataphrakt. If the Oc is an martian then you can have them be watching the attack from orbit in their kataphrakt and while they are still in orbit they see princess asseylum on the bridge and starts their fall to earth to find and protect her. Or you could go with my idea of them being a half martian with the father being a martian like rayet but the OC's father is a kataphrakt pilot that fell in love with an earthing and had a child.
The earthling OC will either be a veteren like marito or be a friend of inaho. This one I am going to give the author a whole lot of freedom to do the Oc. But i would prefer if they specialized in extreme long distance sniping, with the martian kataphrakt's aldnoah ability being the calculations for balistics and low end prediction like the tharsis but not as vesitile, just for predicting the targets general movements.
