June 20th, 1961

It was Cynthia and Eddie's last night in Hamburg. The last 10 days past by so quickly to both of them. They shared this saddening feeling they haven't done anything, that they didn't make the most out of this trip. The two women whished they could stay with the boys until their contract was through, but they both were out of money and didn't want to abuse of Astrid and Stuart's hospitality. Cynthia and Eddie were to leave in the morning the next day. The girls packed all of their belongings as they were getting ready to join the band at the club. It would be easier to leave their bags in the boys rooms as the train station was closer to the Top Ten.

Making sure everything was back in her suitcase, Eddie picked up the dressed she promised Mimi she would pack for the trip. She held it up  in front of her to have a closer look at it. It was a pale yellow circle dress with a halter neckline. Her mother, Julia gave it to her when she tried to rebuild her relationship with her two older children. Eddie immediately fell I love with it the second she saw it hanging in her mum's closet. Knowing yellow was her daughter's favorite color, Julia didn't hesitate and gave it to her right away. Eddie was utterly in love with the garment, wearing it almost everyday, pairing it with a cardigan on colder days. She put it away for good and never wore it again after the day her mother died in July 1958.

Eddie chuckled sadly, gazing at the dress she haven't put on in 3 years. She laid it down on the bed beside her suitcase before turning to Cynthia standing behind her, folding her skirts. "Cyn, can I borrow ye a cardigan?"

"Come on Eddie. We'll be late." Called Cynthia, ready to walk out of the flat.

"Just a minute." Eddie answered from the bedroom where she was starring at herself in the full length mirror placed at one corner of the room. It was a strange feeling to finally wear this dress again. She sighed as she wondered whether to button up Cynthia's light pink cardigan or not. The woman made sure her red lipstick was neatly applied before picking her luggage up. "Commin'!"

Sitting on a stool beside the bar, Eddie was enjoying a beer, shaking her shoulders as the Beatles played 'Take Good Care Of My Baby'. Eddie quite appreciated the few times the reserved George sang. The played it a bit slower than usual to accommodate Paul and his new instrument. The man spent the last day rehearsing the songs bass lines. He clearly picked up most of it rather quickly, but still made a few mistakes here and there, sometimes stopping playing. It didn't mattered to Eddie. He looked so proud holding his new bass.

"Take good care of my baby,
Please don't ever make her blue.
Just tell her that you love her
Make sure you're thinking of her
In everything you say and do.

Take good care of my baby,
Now don't you ever make her cry.
Just let your love surround her,
Paint rainbows all around her,
Don't let her see the cloudy sky."

Eddie gazed at her watch. The set was almost finished. The more the night went by, the more she was getting nervous. She had to sit down to try calming herself down. In second thoughts, she should have maybe kept on dancing with Cynthia. It would have been a better form of relaxation and distraction. On the other hand, Eddie didn't want to get too sweaty. That explained her few breaks outside to the fresh air.
