Days later, the Hill High Music Competition rolled in.

"It's alright. I know how you feel. Breathe in and out," Ann told her sister. Angela inhaled and exhaled.

"I feel better Annie."

"We're on," Alan said as he came to Ann and Angela's side. "Libby has finished her performance."

"Just go out there and sing your heart out, okay," Ann said. Angela nodded and took a deep breath.

Alan and Angela sang Khalid's Lovely which featured Billie Eilish for the first round.

Alan sang:
Thought I found a way

Angela joined:
Thought I found a way out (found)

Alan sang:
But you never go away
Angela backed:
(Never go away)

Alan sang:
So I guess I gotta stay now

Both:
Oh, I hope some day I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive, outside I can't fight my fear

Angela sang:
Isn't it lovely, all alone?
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Both:
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home

Alan sang:
Walking out of town
Looking for a better place
Angela backed:
(Looking for a better place)
Alan sang:
Something's on my mind (mind)
Always in my head space

Both:
But I know some day I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive, outside I can't fight my fear

Angela sang:
Isn't it lovely, all alone?
Alan sang:
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Both:
Tear me to pieces, skin and bone
Hello, welcome home

Alan:
Whoa, yeah
Yeah, ah
Whoa, whoa
Both:
Hello, welcome home

When they ended, the audience applauded them heartily which clarified that they did well. After their performance, the others had their turns to perform on stage, one after the other. Then the second round followed. Libby performed first in that round after which there were three solo and two group performances. Alan and Angela sang Ellie Goulding's Burn next.

Afterwards, all the competitors were called on stage. Surprisingly, there was a tie between Alan and Angela as a pair and Libby.

Libby told Angela when they got off the stage, "Just because Chloe let Ann win the Belle Fashion Challenge does not mean I will let you win this music competition."

"Get lost Libby! You're so cocky and condescending! When will you realise that you aren't better than anyone?" Angela said, glaring at the redhead.

"Shut up!" Libby barked.

"It's true you've got a great voice but it's also true that your irksome behaviour overshadows your talent every freaking time. So you know what? Be nice! Be kind! It will match your great talent." Then, Angela started away. She turned after taking a couple of steps and told flushed Libby, "And to set the record straight, my sister won the Belle Fashion Challenge simply because she was the best." Angela walked off, screaming with joy inside. She had had the final word and she was going to rock the hell out of her final performance.

Alan and Angela mounted the stage after Libby had finished her song. For Angela and Alan's  final song, they had decided to sing the song that made them become friends, the song that united them when they parted, their song, Angel's wings.

Angela sang:
I would die for you
Lay down my life for you
The only thing that means everything to me
'Cause when you're in my arms
You make me prouder than
Than anything I ever could achieve
And you make everything that used to seem so big
Seem to be so small since you arrived

Both:
On angel's wings, an angelical formation
Angel's wings, like letters in the sky
Now I know, no matter what the question
Love is the answer, it's written on angel's wings

Then Alan sang:
And I often wonder why
Someone as flawed as I
Deserves to be as happy as you make me
Oh yeah, so as the years roll by
I'll be there by your side
I'll follow you wherever your heart takes me
'Cause when you make everything that used to seem so big
Seem to be so small since you arrived

Both:
On angel's wings, an angelical formation
Angel's wings, like letters in the sky
Now I know no matter what the question
Love is the answer, it's written on angel's wings

Alan:
Oh, now anyone who's felt the touch of heaven in their lives

Angela:
Will know the way I'm feeling, looking in my baby's eyes

They both sang:
That's why I can't bear to be too far away

Alan sang:
I know that God must love me 'cause

Angela sang:
He sent you to me

They both sang:
On angel's wing, an angelical formation
Angel's wings, like letters in the sky
Now I know, no matter what the question
Love is the answer, it's written on angel's__

Angela sang:
Love is the answer
Alan continued:
It's written on angel's

They both paused, breathed and hit the highest notes of the last word:
"Wiiiiiinnngs!"

Angela and Alan ended beautifully, and for the first time, they hit the high note at the end very well. The audience applauded, cheering. The crescendo of enthusiasm was at its apogee. Angela and Alan even got a standing ovation. There had been soul in the singing, there had been.

Libby, Alan and Angela were called on stage again. The winner was to be announced

Miss Nelly Peldon, the presenter, shouted, "And the winner/winners is/are..."

She paused and said, "If Barrack Obama were here today and he had said, "Out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't..."  What would we all say to that?"

The audience shouted, "Yes, we can!"

"Ladies and gentlemen, the winner/winners of the Hill High Music Competition is/are... Alan Forest and Angela Whitney!" The audience cheered loudly.

Alan and Angela were presented with their prizes. They got their trophy and said cheese for the pictures.
