Road Rage

"it's what
we trust in
but
don't yet see
that keeps us
going"

— the Bible says

i like planning
what i don't like
are the changes
that can occur
somewhere along
the path
i pictured
in my head

changes meant
rerouting the plan
or scrapping it
altogether
and i hated
when my effort
goes to
the waste basket

control translates
to certainty

who wouldn't
want something
so sure

yet time
after time
it's never
a smooth ride

roads have humps
much like
our plans have
proposed adjustments —
it's a natural force

and
i know this
okay

it's just that
my emotions
are wild
and don't go well
with huge shifts

the Lord
knew this
about me
and offers peace
and comfort
through His Word

He cheers me up
and reminds me
of His greater Love
the only real thing
that I can be assured of

i have to
relinquish the urge
to own control
and instead
be intentional in
working my faith
and returning
the wheel
back to my Father

because honestly
i am one
grumpy driver
who don't know
how to actually drive
