Episode 15

Seraphina's POV

At Wellston Hospital...

...

That's...what happened? It's certainly a lot to take in, that's for sure. 

I turned towards John, who was averting his eyes to the side. What do we even do with this information? 

William sighed.

"I knew it would be like this." he finally said. "But there's nothing I can do now. John has already experienced this and there's not much I can do to make him return to the life he once had."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Well, I'm sure you already know the incident, considering you were able to get to Ember's headquarters, but John was used among many other children to test out certain ability amplifiers." he explained. 

"Two years later, someone found out about the situation and called the police which stopped the project. Though, it has never gone out to the public and was never addressed in the news. After that, many kids were sent to therapy centers to get help revolving around the incident. However, John was too traumatized by the incident and refused to get help from anyone. Thus, his trust in people was quite low."

That explains everything with Claire's betrayal then.

I turned to John, still having his head put down. He isn't really saying much either. Is he alright?

"Hey, John." I finally said. "Are you okay?"

...

No answer.

"JOHN!!" I shouted, immediately grabbing his attention.

He flinched. "WHAT THE FU-"

"What the hell was that for, Sera?!" he turned to me.

"You're usually so talkative, but you just seemed out of it right now. I just wanted to make sure you weren't dead or something." I explained to him.

"I was just thinking, that's all." he said. "Hey, Sera. Where did Volcan go while I became unconscious?"

"To our town's private center, I think." I replied, putting a finger to my chin and trying to remember. "They said it was too dangerous to leave her in jail with the other prisoners, and they wanted to ask her a few questions about what Ember, so they moved her to an isolated room. Why do you ask?"

"Thanks. I think I'll pay her a visit there."

"Huh?!" I jumped in surprise. "Are you crazy? You're not even fully healed yet! And how knows what will happen with her if she escapes? Do you really want to go back there?"

"Of course not. But I want to know her point of view on this."

"But-" I started.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned to see William.

"Once you recover John," he began. "You can go."

Are these two crazy or what?! Am I the only sane one here?

"Why are you letting this pass, William?" I asked the older looking man in confusion.

"John needs this." he responded. "He's my son and I know him very well. I can tell he won't be satisfied leaving this be. So it's better to allow him to do this instead of making a huge fuss about it. What do you think, Sera? You don't want those two to meet?"

"Well..." my answer drifted off.

He's right. What do I even want from him? It's not my place to make decisions for him. 

I guess I just...I don't want to see him hurt like that again. 

The authorities will be there though. They'll be there to stop her from breaking out. 

I sighed.

"You're right." I told William. "When John recovers, he'll have a talk with Volcan."

I turn to look towards John. 

He'll be fine. 

I know he will.
