You were definitely not trained for this.

And this? Everything that is happening now is definitely out of your league.

Those are the only things you have running inside of your head while you are running through chaos. The thoughts keep repeating themselves in your panic state, leaving you wondering just what you have gotten yourself teleported into while you watch the battle unravelling around you. It feels like you are walking through mud, your legs heavy with lead while your body is getting chilled to the bones and filled with fear as you watch one side throwing black thundering clouds and spells of dark and deadly curses while the other side retaliates through balls of white lights, blinding fire, and silver stakes and ice daggers being thrown through the air.

The initial plan that was formed so hastily upon starting this whole—and what you had also deemed reckless—rescue mission had been pretty simple.

The small group of missionaries were to be split into two smaller teams. The first team would be the aggressors. Led by Jin and Mage Cian, they would have to enter through the front gate first, finding their way inside the old, abandoned castle to create disorder and drama which would serve as a distraction while the other team teleports inside. The second team, which is much smaller and consists of you, another clairvoyant, the siren mage, and a few younger Wiccans, were to teleport right into the center of the Dark Trials and retrieve the white magic child to secure her to safety.

Except that the moment you were teleported straight into the heart of the castle, you soon realised that things would never be as simple as your simple minds could predict.

While Mage Cian had been prepared to face any capable Warlocks that could have gotten in his way, never once he had expected to encounter one that would be strong enough to create a whole maze of illusions to sidetrack any possible attack coming into their lair during their trials. It was definitely far more superior than the illusion that they had created to form the simple fog shielding their hiding place in plain sight, as new walls kept on being created to obscure the other team's path, new fake halls and doors kept appearing to deceit their minds into thinking that they had found the right way, only to find another obstacle blocking their way.

The dexterous Warlock's distraction had been so perfectly done that not even the visual of the correct pathway heading to the main ballroom which you had sent out to Mage Cian and Jin had been able to help them escape from the maze. It was not until the moment the siren mage entered the castle when the Warlock was found, though it had meant that your team had to start the battle early to defeat him and free the others from the illusions before you could continue the next part of the mission. Only that the moment it was done, your cover had been blown and your arrival had been exposed to the rest of the coven. All the Dark Witches and Warlocks had gathered in the ballroom, waiting, shielding the altar where the magic child had been placed on with their dark magic when they welcomed your arrival into their trials.
