Your pov

The whole week sped by fast until it was already Friday. Just like any day, I walked down the concrete steps, and into the station. But today, something felt off, it felt as if something really good were happening today. Gerard and I gotta date... must be that...

"Good morning!" I sang, sitting beside Gerard who was drawing in his sketchbook.

"Morning!"

"Whatcha drawin'?" I asked, sitting close to him.

"Just some sketches for a tv show I'm working on."

"Cool, they're adorable."

"Aw, thanks, I sure hope he is. This is the breakfast monkey," He showed me, "I like to make breakfast and pancakes!" He said in a cartoonish voice. I giggled.

"That's adorable!" I giggled. Strangely, a weird sense of happiness streamed through my veins again. Must be cause of Gerard... going out tonight... oh I can't wait...

"I'm really excited for tonight." He said, putting his things away.

"Me too, I dunno why, but I feel really happy today. Like, something good is happening."

"Cause we're goin' on a date tonight!" He chuckled, standing up, and taking my hand. I giggled as he led me into the subway and to our normal seats.

"There's a lot of people this morning." I said, looking around the relatively crowded subway.

"Yeah, I wonder what's going on." I nodded.

"Doing anything for the weekend?" I asked.

"Uhuh, gonna be going out with a pretty girl I met on the subway." I giggled.

"Yeah? For the whole weekend?" He nodded.

"Of course! After Friday, she's gonna be so into me that she'll never wanna leave!" I giggled.

"Really?" He nodded, confidently.

"Just wait and see Y/n, you're gonna be head over heels by the time the night has ended." I hummed.

"I doubt that." He sent a look.

"Why!?"

"Cause there's a good chance that I already have." A smirk spread across his face.

"Oh I see..." I giggled, "Cool..." He chuckled, just as the subway came to a stop. We stepped off and sent each other smiles.

"I'll see ya later Gee."

"Yeah, see ya..." I kissed his cheek before waving him off, and walking the other way. A smile was stuck to my face as I stepped into the store. Gerard... oh I can't wait...

"Good morning!" Lu greeted as I set my bag in the back.

"Morning!" I greeted, now standing behind the counter while she moved a few items around. Not many people came in this morning. So my mind had become occupied with thoughts of Gerard. Then, suddenly, a man ran into the store.

"Turn on the tv! Turn on the tv!" I turned to Lu, she shrugged. So I turned on the little tv hung above the counter, immediately, an airplane flew into the twin towers not very far from here.

"Oh my god..." Tears spilled down my cheeks as I watched in horror. A few other people came into the store, watching as well. I couldn't move. My body had become numb as it all sank in.

That could've been me... what if that'd been me!? Stuck behind a counter or desk... being killed doing the same job everyday of my life... I can't do this anymore...

I turned to Lu, standing just a foot away, watching everything go down. Tears still stung at my eyes, but I didn't care.

"I quit." My voice was quiet and shaky.

"What...?" She asked, softly as tears ran down her shocked face.

"I quit. I can't live my life like this anymore. That... that could've been me." My eyes went back to the screen.

Gerard's pov

Happily, I took my normal seat by the window in the ferry. I took out my sketchbook, but I was too anxious to draw. So, I watched out the window, thoughts on Y/n, when an airplane crashed straight into the twin towers. What... what just happened!? No... oh god...

"Holy fuck..." I whispered to myself. The ferry came to a stop and I immediately got off, watching in horror. Bodies fell from the explosions as another plane crashed.

That could've been me... killed behind a desk... I gotta get outta here... can't let that be me... dying at a job that I hate...

But I couldn't move. My eyes were glued to the scene on the main land. Then, I noticed a few of my coworkers and bosses standing around me. Now... I have to... this is it...

"I quit." They all turned to me.

"What!?"

"I quit. I can't live my life like this anymore. This isn't what I want." That could've been me...

No one else spoke. I stood there for a few minutes, thinking, until I boarded the ferry again. It was a completely silent ride. Even when the ferry came to a stop, there was no speaking or anything. Quickly, I ran down the subway steps, my mind went a million miles a minute as what had happened sank in. I need to call Mikey...

The subway ride was completely silent as well. Y/n was nowhere to be found. But my thoughts were far from her. As soon as the subway stopped, I ran home, and pulled out my phone, calling my little brother. I turned on the tv as well to see what exactly had happened.

"C'mon... pick up pick up..."

"Gerard!? Are you alright!? I saw what happened!"

"Yeah... yeah I'm fine! I just-" I sighed, "Y'know how I was talking about quitting my job and starting a band?"

"Uhuh..."

"Well, I quit my job. You wanna, start a band?"

"Seriously!?" He asked, surprised, but excited.

"Yeah I'm serious!"

"Uhm, yeah! Yeah! I'll join your band. I'll call up Ray and see if he wants to join too." I smiled to myself. It's really happening... yes... I'm out...

"Alright, sounds good. But we need a drummer though."

"I'll find one."

"Cool, this is gonna be great!"

"Hell yeah!"

OwO-
Kinda dark chapter. It was also fairly short, but very important to the story. I think there's gonna be two or three more chapters after this. So yeah. This is almost over. But that's ok, I planned for this to be a shorter book so yeah. When this is over I'm actually planning on doing a high school Mikey book so that's cool. Have a good day~peace out cheesebags
