*Alvar*
I realize that I forgot my favorite tie back in the Palace. I decided to hang it up back when I was living in the castle, and I forgot to pack it with the rest of my stuff when I was leaving.
I'm allowed inside, and I hurry up the stairs, and muscle memory takes over and leads me to my- I mean the once mine- room.
I look at myself in the gold, oval mirror as I tie a deep-sea blue tie around my neck. I fix my hair a bit and try to smile as I head back to where I belong.
On my way out, however, I absentmindedly take a wrong turn. I stop in my tracks when I hear two raised voices.
"I can't believe you would just come to my office and search through my stuff. I don't care if you're the Prince; it just isn't right."
"Oh, and it is right that you are trying to wipe my Father's mind?" There's a moment of silence before the voice continues, "not that I care."
"It's nothing to concern yourself with."
"I will be a good ally. Why work apart when we can work together?"
"What do you have to offer me?"
"I was the one who started the fire that got everyone spooked." I become aware that I stopped breathing. I have to get out of here, and I have to warn someone.
