Victim

She hesitated
Between one step and the next.
Were there
Monsters in the alley yonder?

Should I?
She double checks herself;
Do I look
Like the prey they feed on?

Stories
She'd heard about them.
Scary,
Because they were true.

Stone cold
Were the hearts of monsters.
Humans
They were certainly not.

Each girl
Their quarry could be.
Nothing
Else mattered to them.

Brutality
Unique to these monsters.
Animals
Aren't as ruthless as them.

Standing,
She recalled her buried past.
Lucky,
That's what she'd been then.

Would
Fate favour her again,
If she
Crossed the dark alley yonder?

Someone
Stirs in the dark alley;
Someone
Swaggers out from there;
Someone...
She doesn't recognize.

Run!
Her heart screams.
Run!
If you wanna survive!

Footsteps
Behind her sound louder.
Not one,
But many monsters now.

Panic
Written on her face,
Haven
She seeks that night.

Monsters
Chasing her all the way.
Her fault:
She was born a girl!

Alone
She had walked the night.
Alone
She would suffer too.

Refuge
She could not find,
Cornered,
In another dark alley.

Monsters
All around her now...
Death
Would only relieve her now...

-------------

Morning came when
It shouldn't have.
The light too bright seemed,
As she saw herself lying
Defeated in that alley.

Her body sore
Her body bleeding
Her body broken
Her body…...
Not hers anymore?

The trauma of the night
Would haunt her forever.
You wouldn't know it though
If you saw her at the road.

But she ain't the same
No, she'll never be the same.

Because something broke within her-
Something you cannot fix anymore.
