Desolate

The stream trickling by
The soft lapping of water
The scent of lilies in air
The songs of the night bird
The crescent of the pale moon
The chilly wind drifting past

The taste of the dry tears
The salty taste on the tongue
The memories of ages past
The aches and pangs of the heart
The laughter fading in memory
The sobs still resounding in the ears

The desires still unfulfilled
The promises yet to be broken
The words yet unsaid
The secrets still hidden in the hearts
The sins yet not forgiven
The love left unrequited

But Fate, cruel Fate, had her way
It was the unjust destiny in the end
The blind faith holding on desperately
To the future most unpredictable
The sacred time now unrecoverable
For confessions left unspoken

The dreams remain unrealized
The many thoughts yet unheard
The weak excuses unacceptable
The love for you undying
Are you still unaware
As I am left alone and undone?
