▬▬▬▬▬ CHAPTER TWELVE ▬▬▬▬▬

Wattpad readers! I'm so sorry, but if any of you have attempted to contact me by posting messages on my profile, then I haven't gotten any notifications about them! Or sometimes I do get a notification, but whenever I tap on it, it just takes me to the 'Conversations' section of my profile and doesn't take me to your message. It happened just today and I saw a bunch of messages that I haven't been notified about... Again, I am so sorry, but I don't really know how to fix it :(

ESMERELDA COULD HARDLY CONCENTRATE FOR the remainder of the day. After being fussed over by Professor Sprout, Professor McGonagall, and Madam Pomfrey, she followed the group of teachers dazedly back to the castle where everyone was surely waiting for them.

Étienne had conjured up a shield to save themselves from being attacked by a dragon. He had used wandless and non-verbal magic and usually Esmerelda wouldn't see it as a big deal, but in the Wizarding World, it was a big deal. A huge one to be honest.

Being able to do wandless or non-verbal was an almost impossible feat for regular mortals. The only sort of people who could do it so effortlessly were demigods... more specifically, children of Hecate whose blood were intermingled with the wizards.

A demigod like her.

Étienne was a bastard kid, like she was. He didn't know who his real mother was, all he knew was that his father met her on a trip over seas and that her name was Tricia.

And oh gods, Lazare had been a Pureblood supremacist like her own father had been, and Lazare suddenly had a change of heart when he met 'Tricia' just like her own father did after Hecate told him the true origins of the wizarding world.

She had been suspicious of him ever since he first started training under her. She was certain of it now that Étienne had tried to use Charmspeak on her in order to get a longer break. Then there were those times during training where she swore Étienne had been hit by a spell but nothing really happened.

And then today the dragons came after both of them. He avoided being healed by Madam Pomfrey because he knew her healing spells wouldn't work on him.

Either Étienne knew he was a demigod, or he was just aware that spells wouldn't work on him and decided to keep it a secret to avoid further scrutiny. She'd bet on the latter. Étienne didn't clearly didn't know about his demigod heritage and it was obvious from how... untrained he was (no offense to her dear brother of course).

There was no way she was going to tell him, not now at least. There was no coming back once he knew, and his scent would grow stronger and the amount of danger he would be in would only worsen. And fuck, what about their mother's oath? He wasn't even supposed to exist! If the gods found out... No, she had to keep this to herself.
