"hi, how are you?" nina asked, laying her head on her arm after propping her phone across from her.
"tired. your moms have been bugging me nonstop about what you've been up to."
"i'm sorry," she apologized softly, looking away from his face.
"don't apologize, you had good reason," he assured her. "what about you? how've you been? you look exhausted."
"gee thanks," she replied sarcastically.
"i'm not trying to sound mean neens, i just want to make sure you're taking good care of yourself."
"i know."
"so are you?"
"i'm trying to; it's hard when you've just found out the truth," she answered with a yawn.
"truth?" he asked. she could hear his voice lower and his stance straighten. "what- what truth?"
"are you okay?" concern clear in her voice as he noticed his tactics.
