Case's POV

I laid flat on my back, staring at the ceiling of my old room.

So many memories came to mind.

Some good.

And some not so good.

I hadn't been home in over 8 years.

That's a long time to be away from home.

And it wasn't completely by choice.

I sometimes regret leaving home.

Of leaving all my old friends behind and my family as well.

But then I thought back to why I left, and what I gained by leaving, and I don't regret it as much.

I got another family.

And I got Matt.

Just thinking of him brought tears to my eyes.

Of how much I missed and wished he was here with me.

I wonder how he's doing.

If he misses me, or if he and Val finally got back together.

The thought of her arms being wrapped around Matt, made me sick to my stomach.

I shook my head, not wanting to think about it anymore.

"Cassedy." A scratchy voice called.

My head jerked at the sound.

"Cassedy." It came a little louder.

I rolled out of bed and made my way down the hall, pushing open the double doors.

"How you feeling daddy?" I asked softly, making my way over to my dad's side of the bed, and sitting next to him.

"As good as a man can feel after having a heart attack." My dad said.

I chuckled as I shook my head.

My dad always was a sarcastic bastard.

"Very funny. You know what I mean. Are you running a fever?" I asked, not waiting for him to answer as I pressed my hand against his forehead.

"I feel strong as an ox. I don't know why you're making me lay in this bed." He grumbled.
