| Chapter 13 • Mo' Money, Mo' Problems |

Michael• (two months later ✨)

"What do you mean we can't release the album?" My mind was racing and I was pissed off, "Michael, you can't release the album until you drop a couple of singles, we need you to go platinum with a few more songs from Ben or new singles to get the fans jumping, we'll add those songs to the album." Otis, the manager of Motown says (we'll call him Otis)

I huff in frustration and rub the space in between my eyes, I was angry! I was excited to release my album, I didn't want to drop any singles on my album because I wanted my fans to be shocked when they hear the album. I didn't want them to expect any songs, just pure shock.

"Now we don't have to do anything, we can cut the contract-." I cut him off with No, "Fine, I'll drop two singles and get them platinum, thats all until my album." I growl, a smirk of satisfaction falls onto his face, "Good choice, sign here."

I read the contract throughly and pointed out things I didn't like and added things I did before I signed. Read your contracts before signing, no matter how boring they are.

After the meeting, I went to Jayden's house, I just wanted to lay under her and vent. I mean, its not like I'd have to write different songs, I'll just use songs that I already wrote- but which ones? Maybe I Can't Help It since they had a snippet and maybe Girlfriend.

Once I pulled up to Jayden's house I huff and knock on the door, after a second she opens the door with a smile, "Hey Buggs." She smiles as I walk in, "Hi." I was half hearted, I was so upset because I had finally got back to music and this happened

"Whats the matter, love?" She asks, "They aren't letting me drop Off the Wall because I don't have any singles out." I huff, "Aw babe, I mean it isn't like you can't pull out any singles from your books. I know how excited you were though." She advices

"You're right but like you said I was so excited to share this project to the world." She pulls me into a hug, she gives the best hugs

"It'll be okay Buggs, don't stress yourself out about it, just release a few singles and add them back to your album. I know you didn't wanna release any singles but in order for you to drop the album you have to." Butterfly pecks my cheek softly, I sorta felt better about it now, maybe I was overreacting

"What scares me is how long will they make me wait to drop, do you think they'll make me wait like a year?" I start to overthink the situation and my breathing increased. Now I'm hyperventilating. "Michael! Michael, look at me, follow my breathing patterns love." She cups my face and looks me deep in the eye

I did as told and started to follow her breathing, I eventually calm down and apologize, "Its okay, you're just frightened, its fine." Butterfly smiles softly

After a second, I grinned, "You're right, thank you. You know, we've known each other for over a year now and we've dated for almost three months." She nods her head, "We have, I'm excited babe. I don't know why, but I am."

After a second of staring at each other I bring up a conversation, "Have you guys found a label?"

She shakes her head, "No but we've been in the studio a lot, we've got a lot of songs recorded and we're currently recording a couple singles to drop before our album. Like you." It was like a lightbulb popped off in my head

"Why don't you sign to Motown, I've been meaning to speak to Otis, I can send him a recording of you guys singing and it'll be great."

She shrugs softly, "I'm fine with the idea but you have to get the girls to agree, I'm the lead singer but they're still in the group too."

"I get that, just invite them over tomorrow and we'll go over it, I can speak to Otis about it too and then we'll be on a roll. I'm so happy for us Butterfly." I bend her down as if I was gonna french kiss her, she always laughs when I do this

"Please don't drop me!" She laughs, before wrapping her legs around my waist to ensure I won't drop her, "I won't drop you, Butterfly." I grin before standing straight and walking

I have plans for her, she's about to get soaking wet! Hold on that sounds dirty, I'm only gonna drop her in the pool ya nasties 😒✋🏽

"Woah, woah where are we going?" She grins, I ignored her question and opened the back door, she gasp, "Michael Joespeh Jackson, you better not!"

Without warning, I jump into the pool with her around my waist, lucky for us we both can swim

"You're an ass, you know that." She grins before pecking my lips, "Oh please, you love me."

"You're right, I do, come on though my hair is gonna frizz." She rolls her eyes before getting out of the pool

After we got cleaned off and washed our hair, my phone started to ring, it was Otis. "Yea?"

"Well Jackson, Pepsi called, they want you to shoot a commercial for them after your second album drops. I can't give you an exact date on when we can drop the Off the Way, but we expect it by the ending of the year- no later than December 30ths. Its May 7th, we need those two singles between middle June and late August. Your picks." Otis says, "Alright, fine I got it."

After we say our goodbyes, I smile softly, things aren't always gonna go your way Jackson but these plans sound good. I'm excited.
