Chapter 32 - Back to the Beginning

About 2 weeks have passed since the attack from eye of the midnight sun. The capital and everyone living in it have begun to slowly recover and return to their daily routines. Everyone in Golden Dawn has also been doing their best to help out wherever we can, meanwhile the Captain, Kaito and I have also been training and doing our best to get better. Mimosa, Klaus, and Yuno have all been heading to the Capital almost daily during this time, none of them asking why I wasn't tagging along. Not that I particularly mind, however an idea has been floating in the back of my mind for some time now. Is it a good or bad idea? I'm not entirely sure.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Kaito flies in front of me as we walk to Captain William's office.

"I've been putting it off for a while Kaito. And besides, this is the best opportunity now that everything with the eye of the midnight sun is over"

I knock on the door lightly, then hear footsteps coming closer to us. The door opens revealing Captain William, opening the door for me to come on. He returns to his seat, putting away what he was working on, then smiles. "How can I help you?"

"Captain I was thinking....I think it's time for me to return to the Heart Kingdom." His smile falls and my eyes widen, causing me to begin shaking my hands. "I don't mean permanently, I just want to go to get some answers, see what became of the house I once lived in, and...."

"You want to get answers about your real family" He finishes. I gulp nodding my head. "I understand, and I permit you to go, but I do expect you to return"

"Yes of course" I smile. "I don't think I have the heart to leave this place"

He nods, letting out a light laugh. "Have you told Yuno yet?"

I bite my lip, Kaito letting out a sigh. "I guess that's a no" Captain William crosses his arms

"I just don't know how to bring it up"

Kaito rolls his eyes. "I don't think you need his permission"

"Yeah but I at least need to know that he's okay with it"

"Why does it matter?"

"That's just relationships Kaito"

"Relationships sound like a drag" He crosses his arms and pouts, causing me to laugh

I thank the Captain, then leave the room, starting to head to Yuno's. I figure the sooner the better, something could happen that could cause me to come back, but I at least want to spend some time there. Gulping, I knock at his door and he opens it a few seconds later.

"Hey" He speaks gently

"Hi...can I talk to you about something?"

He nods, opening his door wider to let me in. Bell makes a face when seeing me as usual, but Kaito glares at her, causing her to scoff. Yuno then coops her in his grimoire and we both take a seat on his bed. Kaito also decides it would be best to stay in my grimoire so I do the same thing Yuno did.

"Is something wrong?"

"No not particularly" I take a breath. "It's just...I think it's time I go back home. Not forever of course, I just think it's time for me to get the answers that I'm looking for. You know, my parents, my fake family, my powers..."

"I get it." He mutters. "Do you want me to come with you?"

"I think this is something I should do myself. Besides, the captain is already letting me go, I'm sure he needs you here" I grab his hand and he gives it a gentle squeeze.

"Just be careful, and come back safely"

"I will" I kiss his cheek, then leave the room, heading back to mine to prep my stuff. After getting everything together and cleaning my room a bit, I put on the satchel, put on my cloak, and start walking out of the base. I start flying near the border, then drop down into the forest as I get closer.
