The eyes are the gateway to the soul. When your eyes and hair show your true colors, there is no hiding how you really act or think from anyone. In order to control the population and to create a more "perfect" world, a foundation was laid centuries ago where only eight factions exist: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, and Gray. You are not born with your personality as a child. You are considered a "White" when born, and slowly you are raised in a facility to put you on a path to determine what makes a spark in you, what fuels your fire. When you turn fifteen, this color shows and you're sent off to the rest of your life where you just become yet another worker meant to fuel society. Alabaster, a boy who's concerned for how his future will end up looking since he's never showed any patterns, is nearing his birthday and he fears the worst. With his friend Ivory, he questions the past and unravels more just as he keeps digging, and soon, they're temped to escape and make a better life for themselves. On this journey, we find out what it means to show your true colors and how deceiving they can be.
