What the hell, Fenrys?

Special thanks to @ZaiZepp05 and @rakhik123 for helping me with the baby info. And btw, Elena is 4 year old now.

Fenrys was sitting on a chair in Elena's room. It was quite smaller than the others, just opposite to Rowan and Aelin's. The only furniture in there was a couple of chairs, a bed and a cupboard. There was also a rug near the bed where Fleetfoot sleeps now. The dog has grown fiercely protective of the princess right from when she was a little baby. Never letting a servant enter the room unless there was Rowan, Aelin or any other court member coming along with them.

But Fleetfoot had gone for a walk with Evangeline which left him alone with his dear niece. Aelin and the others had some important business to attend which was perfectly fine by him. They never let him be alone with Elena nowadays. He cannot blame them. They had caught him telling her irrelevant things far too many times for anyone's liking. But today was different. They had no other option but him. Garen had gone to Falkan Ennar, his only living grandparent.

"I am glad your mother didn't name you Elena Evalin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius. It is longer than any address." He laughed at his own lame joke.

"El?" He called after he didn't hear her chuckle or the clinks of the kitchen set she was playing with.

"Elena?" He called again, visibly frightened. He turned around to see a messed up toy kitchen and more importantly, no Elena. No Elena.

He was in big time trouble. He looked at the clock. Aelin could return any moment and burn him to ashes before he got the chance to explain himself. And even if she didn't, there was no way he could come out alive from Rowan's wrath. Shit. Shit. Shit.

Just then there was a knock. He was sweating badly. He couldn't bring himself to open the door but the door opened itself and he could see a happy Rowan and Aelin.

"Thanks Fen. You can go now." Aelin patted him.

"No, I can't." He blurted out before he could think. "I think I may have lost her."

"What?" Her eyes were on fire.

"We let you take care of her and then you lose her. What the hell, Fenrys?" Rowan was shaking with anger.

"Let me explain..." Fenrys tried to calm them down but Rowan was already choking the air out of him.

"This won't help." Elide said. Fenrys didn't see her entering the room but he was eternally grateful to her because Rowan's grip on him released and he could see him calming down.

"She might just be in the castle." Elide said softly.

"She better be." Rowan muttered and threw a dark glance at Fenrys.

Everyone was looking for the lost princess. Aelin went to the sitting room and gave a side-glance towards the tapestry. No, there was no way she could have gone there. Aelin hadn't even told anyone else yet but the others had no luck, so she took a step towards the painting.

Aelin looked around. There was no one. Good. In a second, she was walking down the hidden staircases. There she heard the familiar giggle. Aelin eased a bit as she entered the room.

"What are you doing here, little princess?" She said as she took in the image of her daughter. Elena was sitting in the corner and had a more than a couple of empty chocolate wrappers littering the floor around her and a couple more on her lilac frock.

They were Aelin's chocolates. The ones Aedion had bought her for breaking Aelin's favorite vase. She had hid them at the top of bookcase. How Elena managed to get them, she had no idea.

"Mum, Fen was boring me." The little girl cried as she hugged Aelin.

"I wasn't looking for it but..." She started when she saw that questioning look on her mother's face.

"You found it anyways." Aelin completed for her.

"Are you mad at me? Please don't be mad at me." Elena said.

Her little four year old daughter had found a secret room that even those centuries-old Fae hadn't found. Hell, she wasn't mad at her. If anything, she was proud.

"No, no. I can never be mad at you." Aelin said and gave a bright smile before asking, "How did you get those?"

"The chocolates?" The princess questioned. Aelin hummed a yes.

Then, Elena gave two swift punches to the bookcase and few more chocolates came falling down.

"I am sorry." She said.

"Don't be." Aelin simply said and took her daughter into another hug, "Just don't go anywhere without telling me. You can come here with me if you like."

Elena gave a too big smile.

"Can you play that thing?" Elena asked, pointing towards the grand piano sitting at the other corner of the room.

"You want to hear it?"

"Yes, please." The princess was beyond excitement.

Aelin let her sit at the same corner, allowing her to eat a few more chocolates and went towards the piano. Rowan would have become fuming if he saw Aelin let their daughter eat so much chocolate at a time but she didn't care, did she?

She sat there, brushed off some dust before she started to play a very soothing tune. Almost like a lullaby. She played it for only ten minutes and she could hear Elena slowly fall asleep. She got her in her arms and walked out of those stairs towards Elena's room. She gently put her on the bed and Fleetfoot was already dancing at the sight of her. Evangeline and the dog had returned a few minutes earlier.

Aelin shushed Fleetfoot, "You'll wake her up."

The dog understood and quietly sat beside the bed, her eyes constantly towards the young princess. Aelin called everyone to the room, telling that she had found Elena and she of course skipped the 'where' part. Fenrys was more than relieved.

Aelin walked towards the tapestry-hidden stairs as she muttered, "Better hide those chocolates somewhere else."

Next chapter, Elena will be 5 so y'all can get ready.
