i clicked my seat belt into the lock and pulled my leg up so i was sitting half way criss cross in the seat. leaning on my elbow that was resting on the door beside me.

nick started up the car beside me, he had ushered me out of the house and insisted that we would be going on a date.

i was excited, this was going to be our first real date and i couldn't really keep all of that excitement inside me. i was practically bouncing off the walls since the moment he told me.

"so where are we going" i asked him, all he had told me earlier was that we were going out. he didn't include any details about what we would be doing.

"it's a surprise"

i groaned, it was an expected response but that doesn't mean i had to be happy about it.

"i hate surprises"

nick laughed, "oh well, you'll just have to get used to me wanting to surprise you"

"it better be a good one then, if you're going to make me be all anxious about it"

i felt him place his hand on my bent knee and shake it a bit, "don't be nervous love, it's just a date"

i was mostly just giving a hard time about being anxious, but his hand on me really did manage to calm any nerves that i did have.

the usual joking tone in his voice was gone as well, he was serious. the care for me showed through the way he spoke, "i'd never make you too anything crazy anyway, i just want to make you have fun"

i smiled to myself, this boy was driving me wild.

i plugged my phone into the aux, "let me serenade you a bit before we get there"

a small chuckle escaped his lips, "do it then"

i put on 'all too well' by taylor swift, knowing i could belt the break up song lyrics and get a good laugh out of him while doing it.

"oh not this song" he said, "are you trying to be depressed"

i giggled, "no silly, let me get in my feels though"

he sighed, but was interrupted by me singing, "cause there we are again on that little town street
you almost ran the red cause you were lookin over at me. wind in my hair, i was there. i remember it all too well"

i held my phone up to my mouth as a microphone, singing with my eyes closed just getting all the way into it.

nick's laughter from beside me caught my attention, i laughed along with him after screaming my heart out.

the build up the the bridge came and i started to sing it, however i was surprised to hear nick singing along with me, "and maybe we got lost in translation. maybe i asked for too much but maybe this thing was a masterpiece. till you tore it all up running scared, i was there. i remember it all too well"

i took a deep breath, and looked at the boy beside me, he was banging on the steering wheel and singing just as loud as me.
