staring out the window

i stand there

like a ghost,

shutters open

and my hair

blowing into

my eyes.

i close them

and pretend

that i am strong,

pretend that

the wind can't

sway me.

just press pause

and halt it all

regrow and

come back

solid, no longer

transparent

and ethereal.

the fog rolls

towards me,

into me,

and i fade out,

disappear.

this pain

so great

it could die

and i would

die with it.

a welcome ending

to a tragic beginning.

people wept

on the day

of my birth,

a mistake,

never meant

to be completed.

so, see-through

as i am, i see

it all, when i

was still standing

motionless

at the window,

dust motes

swirling through

my spectral

body.
