Chapter Twenty-One

Venus had most of her belongings packed away the morning before school was let out. It felt like she had just gotten back from her winter vacation, and now she was leaving again. She skipped down the stairs and made her way to where Rosie and Thea were sitting in a window, discussing plans to hangout over break.

"My stepfather bought us all tickets for this carnival thats in our town if you guys are interested? Though I think he only did that to get us out of the house, which is weird considering we aren't even home yet."

"Is a carnival one of those events that has the clowns and the zoo animals?" Thea asked, having limited knowledge on Muggle culture.

"Thats a circus, a carnival is a place where you can play games to win prizes and go on cool rides that get your heart pumping." Venus had went to a carnival once when she was younger, before her parents separated. She remembered going on the Ferris Wheel but having to cover her eyes because she was scared of falling. Michael made fun of her for it, but her dad held her hand, making her racing heart slow down knowing he was there to protect her.

"Carnivals are overrated." Rosie chimed it, breaking off a cracker and stuffing it in her mouth.

"So are you not going?" Venus inquired.

"Oh, im going. Anything to get away from my brother's annoying girlfriend. I swear, everytime she speaks i want to bite her head off." She said with a scowl.

Venus tilted her head in confusion. While it wasnt abnormal for Rosie to have a tad of a temper, this seemed out of nowhere. "Are you alright, Rosie?" Thea wrapped a comforting arm around her friend's shoulder.

The raven haired girl sighed. "Im fine. Just a lot on my mind is all. I should probably finish packing, got to go." Thea and Venus watched in confusion as the third member of their trio took off down the hall, as Lily and her friends walked up to the pair.

"Is it alright if we sit with you? James has been following me nonstop, and i need to get away." The red haired Gryffindor asked, being met with a kind smile from Venus, and a confused look from Thea.

"For someone that says they hate James, you sure do talk about him a lot." Thea pointed out. Venus's eyes went wide as nudged her friend in the side. Even Marlene cracked a small smile, though she looked less than ecstatic at the moment.

"I do not like James Potter, nor will I ever like James Potter. If i talk about him a lot, its probably because he is a incessant fool that does not understand when enough is enough." Lily seemed to get riled up pretty fast. Her anger only seemed to rise when said boy rounded a corner, with a sarcastic frown on his face.
