Elin's POV
I couldn't help but feel nervous. Where were they?
I waited for a while- almost 30 minutes- for them to come back, but they never did.
Eventually, I decided to go and find them.
I made my way to the door into the palace. I was allowed in since I was Thor's fiance.
"Good day to you, Ms. Elin Troysdottir," greeted one of the guards, bowing to me.
"Good day to you as well," I replied, curtsying. "Is there any chance that you may know where my fiance went?"
"When I passed him, he was going to his chambers," the guard informed.
"Was he with someone?" I questioned.
"No," answered the guard.
Now worried, I thanked him and hurried inside.
I wasn't too worried about walking around by myself in a large palace. I was slightly worried about what would happen if I somehow got lost.
I'd been in the palace before- as a child, I played in its halls, and as a teen, I chatted and gossiped with my friends in them. I had always been allowed in there, and the guards and servants actually knew my name by now.
I stopped a passing servant. "Pardon me, but do you know where my fiance has gone?"
"I just finished cleaning his and his brother's chambers. The last time I checked, he was in his study," he replied with a smile.
I smiled in return. "And what of his brother?"
The servant scratched the back of his neck. "I believe they were together,"
"Excellent,"
I continued my fast-paced walk down the hall, glancing around corners for somebody I knew. Specifically, Thor or Loki.
If I found Thor by himself, I would probably send him to Hel. If I found Loki by himself... well, I hoped I wouldn't find him as I found him that morning.
"You don't have to track my every move, Elin,"
I turned, relieved at the sound of Loki's voice behind me.
"You had me worried," I replied.
"Why? You thought I couldn't defend myself?" he demanded. He sounded quite angry.
"No, I got nervous after this morning," I answered calmly, examining him for fresh bruises or cuts. I found nothing visible.
"That's what I thought," he grumbled. "You think I'm weak,"
"That's not at all what I said," I attempted to soothe him. "I believe someone's being a bit stubborn. Did something happen?"
"No," he replied, obviously lying.
"Are you sure?" I took a few steps toward him.
"Yes," he lied again.
I sighed and gave a small grin. "I thought you were supposed to be good at lying,"
He averted his gaze from me, looking as though he were arguing with himself.
"I'll walk you home," he declared.
"I'm not going home until you tell me what happened," I protested.
He studied me with hesitant eyes before nodding. "Fine, then," he sighed. "We can talk,"
~
We walked to a small, velvety lounge. He refused to say anything to me until we were comfortable on either side of a couch, examining each other.
