We saddled up horses and rode down the Bifrost until we reached Heimdall, who appeared to be waiting for us at the gateway.

We slid off of our horses and approached Heimdall. I heard Loki mutter, "Leave this to me,"

I sighed, wondering how badly this would turn out on a scale of one to ten- one being a miserable failure, and ten being a terrible failure.

I was hoping we'd end up somewhere around a five.

"Good Heimdall-"

Heimdall cut Loki off immediately.

"You're not dressed warmly enough," he said.

"I'm sorry?" Loki replied, seeming genuinely confused.

"Do you think that you can deceive me?"

"You must be mistaken-"

"Enough," Thor cut in, stepping in front of his brother. "Heimdall, may we pass?"

"Never has an enemy slipped through my watch until this day," Heimdall stated slowly. "I wish to know how that happened,"

"Then tell no one where we have gone until we've returned," Thor ordered. "Understand?"

Without waiting for an answer, Thor walked around Heimdall and away.

As we all followed after him, Loki appeared frozen in position.

"What happened?" Volstagg joked. "Silver tongue turned to lead?"

Loki did not reply.

I was the last of the group to follow. As I passed Loki, I finally caught his eye. He quickly glanced away.

"Are you coming?" I asked.

He nodded, mute.

"Spending my life getting ignored is going to be fun," I said a bit too snarkily, quickening my pace to join the others and leaving him behind. He followed after, and I felt him grab my arm.

"Elin, look," he said quietly. "I-I'm sorry about yesterday, really-"

"You already apologized for that," I snapped, pulling my arm from his grasp. "I'd rather forget it than have you keep reminding me. At least it showed me a truth that I'd been having a hard time accepting- I can't change anything,"

He said nothing in reply, instead, walked towards the gateway. I stood beside Sif, waiting for Heimdall to open the Bifrost.

I heard Heimdall's sword slide against the metal of the dias.

The walls in the dome began to spin at terrifying speeds as Heimdall prepared to send us to Jotunheim.

"Be warned," Heimdall said. "I will honor my sworn oath to protect this realm as its gatekeeper. If your return threatens the safety of Asgard, the Bifrost will remain closed, and you will be left to die in the cold wastes of Jotunheim."

"Couldn't you just leave the bridge open for us?" Volstagg asked.

"If I leave the bridge open, it would unleash the full power of the Bifrost and destroy Jotunheim with you upon it,"

"I have no plans to die today," Thor declared.

With that, Heimdall forced us through the Bifrost.

When I was standing on solid land again, I was in Jotunheim.

How did I know?

Literally everything was ice.
